Sims 2 legacy crashing

So I decided to get the sims 2 legacy edition because I generally love the game and all. I booted up the game about three days ago (feb2/3) and whenever I would use any asset that uses 3d (When you add a sim in cas/play a household) I would get the pop up "Direct 3d returned an error: D3DERR_INVALIDCALL! the application will now terminate." So I tried to be patient after searching and eventually gave up. Today I was VERY excited to see there is a new update. Only to see whenever I use anything using the 3d assets as stated before, It will now say "Application has crashed, It will now terminate" and kick me out of the game. I've already deleted the "Neighborhoods" file in the electronic arts folder in documents to clear up any corruption. I've really hit a blank and I need any help if possible.
(Note that I have no mods whatsoever that would corrupt my game)

    If anyone’s wondering I got it fixed!!! All you have to do is load an unoccupied log in build mode, turn off the shadows, save the game, go to the main menu… AND BOOM! It’s fixed!!!

    If anyone’s wondering I got it fixed!!! All you have to do is load an unoccupied log in build mode, turn off the shadows, save the game, go to the main menu… AND BOOM! It’s fixed!!!

    Bought the legacy edition and it worked fine until EA made updates to the game. It’s highly upsetting game constantly crashing when I try to play a household.

    Do you have gshade in? Or have you tried deleting group cache? In sims 2 legacy folder downloads

    It worked for me as well. I believe EA should find a way to fix the problem that the Shadows option is causing to the game for the people who have the same type graphic card. The crash is related to the shadows option for sure.

    I keep having the game just completely exit me out of the app and i lose all the progress i just made. Anyone have any explanation or suggestions?
