Sims 2 randomly crashes

My sims 2 legacy game randomly crashes, it plays fine for a while then out of no where it will just fully shut down? Plus every time i go into my saved game i get the game tips pop up as if I have never loaded into the game before.

Any solutions or suggestions would be appreciated!
