I may be wrong, but I don't think they will issue a patch for those of us with UC because UC includes content they now have copyright problems with (IKEA and certain music tracks) which they have excluded from the Legacy version. Even if they did issue a patch, they might use the patch to remove such content (although it can still be added back in, using various workarounds).
I have UC and a Sims OG complete collection already, but bought the whole birthday bundle because I thought it would be good to have versions tailor made for more modern computers. I haven't tried Sims 1 Legacy yet, apart from loading up and checking it out, but I don't really expect problems playing it (fingers crossed!).
However with Sims 2 Legacy, I have played it a bit, but have begun getting random crashes and pink soup, all the usual shenigans I already have had in the past with UC. So for the time being I have taken that off my computer, and gone back to UC because I've got various mods and workarounds to avoid all these problems. If EA come up with a load of fixes that overcome all the bugs and glitches that Legacy currently has I will take another look at it.
I do like that they've reissued these games so us long time users can get our hands on versions that have been (theoretically) adapted to newer machines, and those who have never played before can see how much fun they are. And I don't really have a problem paying for them given the tens of thousands of hours of enjoyment I've had over the last 20 years. But I think they should have done more homework on TS2 and checked out all the various problems and bugs people have experienced over the years and which the fantastic modding community have done their best to provide solutions for.
That's what some people were also speculating on other platforms. I get that EA has a lot of fixes to do. I haven't tried to play UC on my new PC, but I had played it before on my fiance's PC and had no issues other than the graphics resolution being way the heck off. With your feedback, I think I can justify buying the whole bundle, as I've never played the OG before (I was too young for my parents to buy it for me and be happy), and I'm a big fan of the older games (please EA, release unto us sims 3 and medieval as a UC)

Hope you enjoy it - the Sims complete collection was my first Sims game and I loved it, hilarious and cute and very good fun.
