"You two are going to work here with me?" Parker Langerak couldn't hide his grin as he looked both Bebe Hart and River McIrish up and down. River looked like she was going to be ill while Bebe blushed slightly. "Two of the prettiest girls in school and I get to hang out with them both in the graveyard."
"Oh, no, this isn't happening," River mumbled. The three teenagers had all gotten a part time job at the Specter Family Mausoleum. It was a great way to get paid while doing homework. They were basically part-time caretakers of the graveyard. River liked Bebe. The Hart girl was a nice kid, if a bit quirky. But stuck with Parker the Player? Well, things could be worse. VJ Alvi, thankfully, had gotten a job at the EverFresh Delights Supermarket so at least they didn't have to work with him. VJ really creeped River out. Bebe too. There was just something .... evil .... about that boy.
The three teenagers shared so small talk as they toured the workplace. River told them about her mother's insane idea to join the military. Parker told them his dad, Dustin, had gotten a job at the Landgraab Industries Science Facility. He had been a stay-at-home dad but with Parker already in high school and Kaylynn close to aging up to a teenager, Dustin decided it was time to go to work and help financially support his family. Something Parker's mom had done very well with her job at the Doo Peas Corporation.
"In case you girls get scared at night here," Parker said with a grin. "I'll protect you."
He's such a flirt, River thought as Bebe blushed again.
