Can't continue adventure because questgiver died of old age

Hiyo folks.

While following an adventure chain, i returned to Shang Simla with the keystone i found in france. Unfortunately upon arriving, i recieved a notice that the opportunity had been cancelled because the target was missing. While i was between trips, a couple of Shang Simla townies had died of old age; i figured one of them must have been the questgiver.

" cannot complete the opportunity Why... That's the Keystone! because one of the targets is no longer available."

I returned to france to resume the adventure chain, had to recover a second keystone, and went back to Shang Simla, only to be presented with the same notice. Most of the time, restarting the opportunity fixed adventure issues; but not this time.

What can i do to fix this? I already have the Master Controller mod, if that helps.

I fixed it by using MC to restart the opportunity. I don't know why that didn't work last time. Thank you for help!

  • There may not be an in-game fix for cross-world opportunities that break like this through no fault of the player. But what can be done, for those so inclined, is use NRaas DebugEnabler to give a sim credit for an opportunity that we feel they should have been able to satisfy so they can move on from there. The MC commands present a sim with an opp to satisfy, the DE ones grant completion.
  • Since i posted this thread, i have tried using DebugEnabler to fix the problem, but i cannot figure out how to use it to force opportunities.

Another idea i had: I found the NPC's remains at the Shang Simla graveyard, my witch sim was able to reanimate them as a zombie and use the sunlight charm to cure them. I am not sure if that solves the problem, however, as the mission board at the base camp sends me back to france again, and i do not feel like doing those quests a third time today.
  • I believe that in order for the DE method to work, the opportunity in question cannot be already in-progress. But if you are truly stuck and can't seem to play that chain of adventures forward no matter what (and you wish to still pursue this), perhaps you could post at NRaas in addition to here to see if any of our members have further suggestions. I never really fully engaged with the WA adventure chains myself and prefer to have my sims spend more time relaxing and finding new (to them) skills to build when in those worlds rather than expending all that energy on the quests. :)
  • I had the same thing happen to me the one time I tried that adventure chain. This was more than a year ago, but I believe I just quit the quest while in Shang Simla and immediately picked it back up from the adventure board at base camp. I don't mean the original opp that started the chain, but the next step in the process; I definitely didn't send my sims back to France. I also have Traveler, which makes the board work better than the EA default version.

Alternately, you might be able to reassign the quest through MasterController. Click on the sim and select NRaas > MC > Basic > Opportunity: By Category > . All assignable opps should be listed. Reassigning it should also force the game to select a new "target" sim for yours to talk to in order to complete that step.
