CC clean up (+unrelated question about pregnancy mod)

CC clean up:
What is your process for cleaning up custom content?
I started cleaning but I feel I'm getting a bit lost. I started with the method of working on ebc / dbc files via the launcher - it's a little tedious and I miss things. Also I have a lot of things at the mods folder, it takes a long time to figure what is what. I know it's better to save every file with its picture, from now on, but for now what can I do?
I have done already some serious cleaning, but I'm not done and I need more efficient way.

Also:
1) Is there a way to keep the files in folders inside Packages folder? (So it will be Mods>Packages>"skins" folder, "objects" folder etc...)
2) If I uninstall a store venue completely, say "The Boardwalk", but before that, I save the Library file and put it in another location. If I then put the library file again- will it show up in game with all its contents? (the roller coaster parts, the decor items...)
3) Is it possible to convert store items into package files? Is it possible for a group of items (from the store ot other) to become 1 package file?
4) How do you keep your CC organized? I tend to download a lot of CC and not use it eventually but I enjoy testing stuff in game, What is the better way to do that, knowing that eventually I will delete some of it?

P.S.
Please don't bash me for downloading all the CC and then wanting to clean it up.

And now for the unrelated question:
I'm looking for a pregnancy mod that allowes a female sim to go to hospital and get pregnant with the selectable genetics of sim in town (married to her or not). I saw someone referring to it in some thread but the thread was closed.
Also I saw many pregnancy mods for adjusting the length of pregnancy. I'm interested just in that- more days. Which mod is the most simple and recommended?

  • 1. Yes. You can have nested folders up to 4 levels deep inside your Packages folder. I don't nest folders though. I have 25 subfolders in which I categorize all my CC. I also number the folders so they are in the order I prefer when sorted alphabetically. (Hair, clothing, build/buy mode CC is at the top, mods at the bottom) You could do something like Mods>Packages>CAS>then have separate folders for skins, hair, clothing, accessories, etc.

Cleaning up CC: I have very little non-CAS CC and don't download much non-CAS CC. Most of my CC is hairstyles and clothing. New CC goes into a Temp folder inside Packages. I don't install a lot of new CC at a time. Once I decide whether to keep the CC I merge it into my existing merged CC files.

Finding the right file is tedious. I start a fresh TS3 folder with a tiny CC world. I install 10 items at a time to the Packages folder. Launch the game and examine the CC in CAS. I try to identify the CC in the files by using S3PE and looking for thumbnails and icon entries. Once I identify which file is which CC I usually rename the package file in a way so I'll remember. If the CC is clothing I'll also customize categories with S3PE (no jeans in Athletic, please!). Then I move the file to another folder and eventually merge it with my old CC. There's probably a better way to do this. Saving everything with a picture is a great idea; I've never taken the time to do that though.

    2. I don't think so. The Store content will probably either be completely missing or substituted for some base game object. Base game content on the lot will remain. I've never actually tried this. I have tried installing CC lots which used ITF content when I didn't have ITF. The ITF content was either missing or substituted. I would expect Store content to behave the same way.

    3. Store content is protected by DRM. So, you are asking about things which obviously that can't be discussed here. I install all Store content via the Launcher. I followed Ciane's method on this thread.

    4. I don't install CC via the Launcher except for worlds and lots from creators I trust. All other CC I convert to package format and install in the Packages folder. My Packages folder is organized into subfolders. I use a Temp folder for new CC until I decide whether to keep the CC or not. My hairstyles, clothing, accessories, tattoo, and buy/build objects CC is all merged. My mods are organized by download site or creator and I use a catch-all folder for mods which don't really fit into the other folders.

edit: you can use MasterController to get any sim pregnant with any other sim's genetics as long as the other sim is currently instantiated in the world (i.e. they can't be hibernating off world). That's what I would use. If you are referring to the Hospital Overhaul mod, don't use it. It was never updated to current patch levels and I've heard that people have had their games get corrupted from using it.

I personally would probably use NRaas Retuner to change the length of pregnancies, but I've seen a few mods on MTS which can accomplish that, which would probably be easier to use. I don't have any experience with them. You can pause an individual pregnancy with MasterController which I've done from time to time.
