Try Selling the Potions table, and the Chemistry lab. When you Buy another Potions table, Make sure the sim has the right skills to use it, If your sim has little skill using the Chemistry set He/she will take a long time to Discover a Potion. If that still dosent work try going to the Nearest Science Lab and Attend some Chemistry classes there until your sim is almost Fully skilled using the Potion lab then reuse the Table again.
