Elder Appreciation Thread

I love my elder sims. With the exception of the first generation, I would have played them from cradle to grave. Just because their pretty days are over, it doesn't mean they are not beautiful in their own way. Also they add much value to a household with the skills they have developed over the course of their lives. Although I have taken literally thousands of pics of my elder sims over the years, I will only share pics from my current save as they are easily accessible.

@Simtown15 Thank you :) I really do enjoy playing with my elders. I figure if I bring them into the world it is my duty to see them all the way through life!
I saw your thread as soon as I woke up and posted a little later when I had my first coffee under my belt :p

I had some other pictures lined up, I might share them later but I just really have to share my absolute favorite elder in my games, ever. His name is Wilbur Mook, he's a grumpy, intolerant, wrinkled bag of priceless expressions and outbursts. Wilbur is a retired Assistant Fire Chief and lives with an eccentric and unpredictable hotdog wearing Fubar Dilligaf. Being retired now, that frees up so much time now when I play him to send him around harassing the world and others with his cane and being a general nuisance. Here are some pictures from Wilbur's last day out, stopping by the local garage, getting a shot and check-up at the hospital (don't want that flu!), stopping by the pet shop and then the comic book shop because he needed victims to terrorize.

This is Jarod Drake-McNeil, the most recent elder I've played. I put him though a challenge to earn 6 degrees and then reach the top of 6 careers (one for each degree). Along the way he got married and raised 5 kids with his husband Samuel Drake-McNeil (who I don't have a picture of, unfortunately).

In this picture he just got promoted to level 10 of the Journalism career, the last one to finish the challenge. I didn't play that household much after. He's still in Barnacle Bay with his elder husband, son, son-in-law, and a house full of grandkids.

Looks to me like all Wilbur needs is a hug. And a puppy to keep him company. ;)

Normal, default 90 days. I started with him right out of CAS (no age stagger mod). He died at age 92, 2 days and 1 promotion away from finishing the challenge. A death flower saved him. I didn't even use Relativity! However I did milk university quite a bit. I was surprised he was able to finish all 6 careers, myself. It was an interesting challenge; all about getting promotions as quickly as possible.

Thanks guys! I did create him as an elder, a caricature of the stereotypical grumpy old man. I haven't been able to bring myself to let him die yet.

Here are some more pictures, this time of an elder named Reuben Steele. He's an homage to my actual ancestry. Reuben is my great great great great grandfather whose first and middle name were Reuben Steele. He was a sea captain, died from smallpox and is buried in an old cemetery not even a five minute walk from my house. This picture makes him took spooky AF.

I don't play him often, just leave him mostly to do his thing in the background. Reuben has a boat in his inventory so I very often see him out on the water on his own. He doesn't make much for expressions, not as interesting visually as Wibur, but I keep him around because he's family.

The only current active elder I have is my sim Ashleigh. He the first sim I ever played with from young adult to elder, as I usually make my elders or they started as adults. Here are some pictures I have of him and his family.

What a wonderful thing to have such an old photo of an ancestor! I don't believe my family has anything quite so old. The oldest photo I have seen is one of my Japanese grandfather in the late 1920s. Perhaps other family members have older images but it's anyone's guess what the English side of my family have access to. What a beautiful homage to Reuben <3
