Extract Memories?

Is it possible to extract memories from the game to be able to view them outside of the game? Memories from sims' scrapbooks. As well as the text?
How is it done please?

  • Hmm... if it was possible I think an Nraas mod would cover it. It might be worth checking out their forums :)
  • There is an option to share the memory, which then posts it to your page and it includes the text.
  • *After uploading them/sharing*
Once it's in your Memories on your Sims 3 page Studio/Memories - right click on the picture and choose 'Save Image as' -save it to your computer. You should number them if it's important. (that's what I just did to check it)

*If you play in Window Mode, you can use the Snipping Tool (Windows). Once you have clicked on a memory, use the tool to copy it and save it somewhere. :)
  • Is there a folder in the program files that I get get them from, like screenshots are in Documents ... (the other levels) .. Screenshots? Perhaps in the game's actual program files. Surely if they are in the game, and are saved with the sim, they are somewhere in the files.
  • No, they are compressed and not in an easy (or even possible) to reach location in the saved game nhd file, with the pictures associated with the scrapbook memories possibly also represented within the save's TravelDB file. The Program Files do not change throughout game usage unless the game is being patched or new EP/SPs are added.

I tried saving from the MyPage like you suggested, and it seems the quality is good. I once took screenshots with the print scrn/sysrq button on the keyboard of the picture in the scrapbook enlarged to full screen, but that didn't turn out quite as nice. I think I will give this way a go. It just seems a shame to not save them somewhere in case the Sims 3 my pages get closed. They will at some point, just like Sims 2 did.
I was hoping I could just grab the whole bunch of them from somewhere instead of having to get each one individually. This is going to take a bit of effort.

Thanks for your suggestion @Rflong7 :)
Thanks for your reply @igazor :)
Aw you two are always rather nice, as is @TreyNutz although he is a star.

Awww, thanks. :) I don't have anything to contribute here as I don't play with memories enabled.
  • A quick way for large amounts of pictures, but it has several flaws:

If you have s3pe - open it.
    File > open > the sims 3 folder > saves > name of save > TravelDB.package
It will open a list of files with different tags.
Type IMG, Click the checkbox, Click on Set, Check Filter active -- as shown below:

If you click on one of the lines you could see the preview, like this:

Sadly, that's going to look this way (extended/with different aspect ratio) also when saving.
In addition, the text is not captured and there is no way to know the right order of memories. These are the flaws.
Anyway if you wish to save a picture:
Right click on the line > Save Image (you can save in PNG format)
If you wish to save ALL memories of that save (=from all your sims in that save)
Then before right clicking, press CTRL+A (which selects all), then
Right click > Export > To File - then you can save wherever you want. Apparently it's not saved ia a .png format, and can be saved as .png only for individual files.
Example of how the saved image file will look like:
