Happy TEN years Sims 3 (Nraas shoutout!)

I couldn't possibly say "Happy ten years TS3" without including Nraas (and its wonderful, wonderful, community of modders!). You guys made the game far more playable, fixed all the bugs that you were able to, and STILL continue to work on making TS3 a great game. The dedication, volunteer work, and help that Nraas has provided has been invaluable. Thank you, so very much <3

  • As much as I appreciate NRaas mods, I’ve played Sims 3 modless for four years and it was the modless game I fell in love with. It’s Sims 3 that is celebrating its 10th birthday and it’s the game itself that manages to still have a loyal fanbase after ten years. It’s a miracle how I still love and enjoy this game so much after all those years. I think we should celebrate Sims 3 now and not start focusing on its flaws. This is not the time for that.

For me it’s a plain and simple: Happy Ten Years Sims 3! And may many more years follow!

Please proceed, I had missed the official celebration topic when I wrote this.
  • I wasn't focusing on it's flaws (but it did/does have them, so ignoring that doesn't do anything). I was including Nraas because they have done a LOT to help simmers enjoy the game. And it's the (dedicated, awesome, thoughtful, and kind) TS3 fanbase who worked with/ through Nraas, and provided a greater experience. :)
  • Gosh, I remember when Twallan based / took over development of the old indie stone SP mod, and turned the whole story progression mod thing into something really wonderful.
The subsequent devs have done just as marvelous job keeping everything running and updated. I couldn't play my game without them and I've used mods right from the beginning, to enhance my play. I doubt I could have stuck a decade with TS3 without them, as much as I love the game.

I missed the official celebration topic, my bad, thought this was the only one. I can see now how this one is rather meant to include NRaas in the celebrations and rightly so of course.
  • Happy 10th birthday, TS3! You have given me countless hours of fun and provided a wonderful escape from real life stresses. I am also extremely grateful to Nraas and the other selfless modders out there. I nearly gave up playing the game in the early days, not because of flaws (although EA SP might be considered a flaw) but because there were some aspects of autonomous behaviour that were over-done and didn't fit my play style. I had played other games before TS2 and TS3 but none kept me entertained for as long.
  • Let's look at it this way. NRaas and our friendly competitors do not exist because the game is flawed. We exist because of how much potential the mod developers see in the game as EA produced it and how much fun we have making it better. Or at least opening up more choices so it can play a bit differently. If the game were just not deemed something special and worth playing out of the box, none of what happened over the past 10 years would have done so. :)
  • @igazor Yes, it's the choices that have been opened up that have made an already wonderful game perfect for me :)

Also a huge thank you to you,@igazor, I have learned a LOT just reading all of your posts for years (before I ever signed onto the boards). I am sure there are other lurkers out there that have also learned from you, and would want to say thank you (but they are not on the boards).

Absolutely. I got the perspective wrong, I understand now this topic is a reaction to the celebration topic (I had missed initially). NRaas most definitely deserves its own stage here!

Happy 10th anniversary Sims 3, the best game ever! And thank you to NRaas and igazor for all your help in playing the game and answering … questions. I'll just leave that there.
