Having Trouble Registering Steam Digital Copy of Sims 3

Greetings Simmers, I've been having trouble with trying to register my digital copy of the Sims 3 Base Game from Steam on the Sims 3 Website. When I go to enter the code, it says it's invalid, even though I typed everything correctly. From what I know, it's not been fully used yet. Especially since I even tried registering it days after I got the game, and it still showed as invalid.

I did try getting in contact with a live representative, but no problems were really found on my EA account and was told that my problem would be passed along to support. I also have a transcript of the entire conversation, if I am allowed to post that. 

 Is there a way to solve this?

Any information will be useful, because I cannot be the only one who's had issues with this.  Thank you for taking the time to read this.

    Hey Nicky5692,

    If a code you're trying to claim is appearing as invalid, you'll need to speak with support again I'm afraid. We aren't able to make any changes to your account via the forums. 

    They should be able to take another look at the code situation since it was purchased from a trusted retailer.
