The white text icon is what you place in your mods folder.Do you have a mods folder set up?

Once you got that setup, you plave the white text icon into the mods --- packages folder. Some CC comes as Sims3 packs and those you install just like regular store items.I prefer .package files as they're easier to remove.
I'm not sure if installing mods on macbook is different than windows computers or not.I'm gonna tag @igazor for that.
