Items duplicating

My Plumbot has a multitude of gems in its inventory as it’s gained them through the board breaker. I sent it to the elixir store to cut some of them. She got five diamonds cut with the Brilliant cut, then sold the gem dust. I then switched to another household member who suddenly has five brilliant cut diamonds in his inventory, plus some gem dust! He hasn’t cut many gems himself and doesn’t get the brilliant cut option when he clicks on the gem cutting machine.

I’m confused. I’ve had a couple of other inventory-related glitches too, mainly from trying to sell items. The item apparently sells, as I get a + whatever amount of Simoleons, but then it’s somehow still in the game (eg on the floor or a table).

The glitch hasn’t affected anyone else in the family. Obviously it’s not a serious game-breaking glitch or anything but it is odd.

  • If I sell from the inventory while the game is paused the items pile up on the floor but I think they vanish once the game starts running again. Maybe they don't and I just delete them.

The duplication glitch is one which happens in my game as well, whether the game is running or not when I decide to sell the items. While it can be annoying, there are things you can do if you don't want your household to gain from the sale of these items.

1- Make a note of the starting funds (before selling the items), sell the items and then reset the family funds using the 'family funds' cheats. You do not need a mod to do this. Just type 'testingcheatsenabled true' (without quotes) to open the cheat box and then 'familyFunds on' (without quotes) and type in the original amount the household is supposed to have. Be certain to deactivate the cheat box afterwards 'testingcheatsenabled false' (without quotes).

2- Use the items, in this case gems, to decorate the home with. I don't know if it is possible to 'gift' other Sims gems but, if it is a possibility just pass them on to someSim else.

3- When items pile on the table, if you sell the table it seems to get rid of all the copies without issues (at least in my game it does, so don't take that as gospel). However, you will only get the cost of the table added to your household funds and not the cost of the table plus the value of all the item that was on it.
