Private Investigator career track and mod conflict?

I was playing with the LaFontaine household recently, and I got the girl into the Private Investigator career track because she had the wish for it. She went to the police department, but every time she completed the task, she would be reset and would appear in her own house instead!

Does anybody else have any issue with playing the Private Investigator career track? How do you find cases and solve them?

ETA: NRaas Error Trap seems to have an issue with the Private Investigator career track.
