Question about something...

So, I know a lot of people when switching computers and redownloading sims 3 just put their saves on a little storage thingy and put them back on the new computer.

Would it be possible to just upload the Families to the Exchange, take notes on Jobs, Levels, Skills, etc; Then on the new computer download the family from the exchange, then change their Jobs, Levels, Skills, etc with Nraas back to where it was, just either build a new house or download the original from Exchange too? I'm willing to do the extra steps if it would work out the same?
  • Sort of but...why? Those little storage thingies are very cheap for the lower capacity ones these days and, at least where I'm at, they sell them everywhere including corner and drug stores -- although one can save more by purchasing them elsewhere in quantity, if you and those you know have any use for them otherwise.

Or one could upload some saves to cloud storage and download them again when ready to resume playing them on a new or different machine.

But doing it by household instead of by saved game would be like starting the games over again in some ways, as the different households won't know each other anymore. We can fix family relationships and relationship scores, but it's kind of difficult to fix missing gameplay history.
  • If you backup your entire TS3 user game folder one way or another, except for expendable things like cache files and FeaturedItems (bleh), then your CC and the Saves you have in it will all be together and nothing should need to be reinstalled. That might take a moderately higher capacity thumb drive though, depending on the size of the entire game folder.
  • True. And I thought of that. I have so many saves and so much cc though it'd be hard. I'd have to write down everything so I could reinstall it later.
  • I plan to do CC from scratch in case a download I did caused my latest issue of not being able to load any save. Also, how do you move an old saved game into a new ts3 folder because I moved them and they don't show up on menu
  • @rubyskywalker
Have you tried restoring a "backup" of the save? In your save files, you should have something like mysave.sims3 and mysave.sims3.backup or something similar depending on what you named it, try deleting the "mysave.sims3" one and then remove the .backup from the other one and see if that works.

And do you have the world you used for that save reinstalled? I had that happen before and realized I had forgotten to reinstall the world.
  • It's the backups I moved to make sure a download wasn't the problem. Plus I had a glitch in game because my singer was late to perform and still says there's a gig there when there isn't

I've only installed one world other than what's from EPs.
  • @rubyskywalker - Does the save name still end in .backup? It has to be changed/renamed so that it ends in .sims3 or else it will never show up in the saved game selector on startup.
  • @igazor oh ok thanks. Can't even play because origin wont log in right now. Hopefully it'll work when I switch over
