Question about temperature in game

Hi everyone.

I was wondering if you have any insight in how temperature works in the seasons EP.

There seems to be a big difference between two temperature indicators in my house. For example the weather channel tells me that the temperature is 38 deg C (nice and toasty) but when I mouse over the season icon it says that the temperature is 20 deg C. I would have thought that the weather channel reports high/low for the day and the season icon reports the current temperature, but the season icon never went near 38 deg. I think it topped off around 20 deg.

What is the difference between the two? This has me confused.
  • Uh ... Since when has the weather forecast ever been accurate?

Using your cursor and the season icon will tell you the temperature outside.
Temps can vary greatly throughout the day and in different seasons.

  • The weather channel is some sort of joke, what it's reporting on or predicting is all nonsense. Every once in a while mod developers get asked if that can be adjusted so that the forecasts provide some meaningful information based on current conditions and expected weather patterns for the world actually being played, Tempest mod settings, etc. Every one of them who looked at it, including Twallan when he was active, came up with exactly the same answer: "No!" :/
  • I don't understand. What's a snowstorm? I mean, I know what snow is, it's that white stuff you ski on, right? When you're up in the mountains? Does it come all at once in a storm? I guess that would make sense; there does seem to be a lot of it sometimes. The things you learn on these forums...
  • For some who never or rarely venture outside, I can see where it might seem like snow comes up from the ground rather than landing on it from the air. But it's also entirely possible that some players live in climates where neither one happens very often or at all. ;)

Just like in real life. Lol. I find weather stations sometimes exaggerate weather conditions and create a lot of drama.
  • Yes, I see that too. IRL, every medium or large snowstorm seems to come with a prediction that ranges into around half to a foot more than we actually get and summer heat waves don't really go above 100 deg F as often as they are predicted to. But at least real life forecasts (in my area) do get the arrival of the storms and other weather patterns right even if their severity is often exaggerated and overly dramatic, and there are usually reasonable explanations for the few storms that never did seem to arrive -- they went off track and hit further up the coast for example.

I stopped looking at sims' forecasts long ago as they were always just wildly and randomly wrong, if I am remembering all of that correctly. :)
