Remove Traffic Sounds

Hi all,
I'm not sure if it's actually a bug in my game but the background traffic sounds are so loud, they seem to follow my sims around, I'm not sure if they're maybe stuck or something? Has anyone had this bug before and can either tell me how to fix it or if it's possible to disable the traffic/road sounds without disabling any of the other sound effects?
