Ride Speeds

It seems there are different answers in different places and then in the game there seems to be a different experience.

Do you think bicycles are faster than taxis? Sloppy Jalopy, Big Lemon? Mopeds from Le Sims Champs. Jogging. Running. Walking. Hover-boarding. Of course the cars and motorbikes have a speed listed in the buy catalogue, and the bicycle says 2, but is it really?

The taxi seems so slow, and my memory makes the bicycle faster but its like remembering places being really big but they were actually small and you go back and you're like: huh.

Its too bad the sims don't get a fit benefit with the bicycles.

Nor any benefit at the moment.

  • DivinylsFan  No, the adult bicycle has a speed of 20.  The Sloppy Jalopy and Big Lemon are, I believe, CarUsed1 and 2, in some order, which have speeds of 32 and 33.  Taxis have a speed of 30.

If you want the bicycle to be faster, change its speed with Retuner.

and by all of that, would you say the adult bicycle is faster than a sloppy jalopy, big lemon or at least a taxi?

  • DivinylsFan  I don't know exactly how speed is converted, but it seems like it might be a bit more than 1/10 of the tuning value, or maybe there are defined boundaries.  Whatever the setup, the rating clearly reflects the approximate speed relative to other approximate speeds.  The child bicycle's speed of 15 is converted to 2, and the adult bicycle's speed of 20 is converted to 3.

For the acceleration, it's just how quickly the vehicle gets up to speed... maybe how much speed increases per in-game minute?  Try using Retuner to change a very fast car's acceleration to something small, like maybe this one which I think is the §105k car:

    CarExpensive1: 100, 33

    The full path:

    Sims3.Gameplay.Objects.Vehicles > CarExpensive1 > kCarTuning > Acceleration > [value]

And see if you can observe how much slower the acceleration is.  I've never tried this myself, but I would guess the value means something—if it were taken out of the game, the later vehicles wouldn't have had separate values here, either all the same or nothing at all if the value wasn't being read.

Thanks puzzlezaddict . I'm not sure what those numbers mean though. Speed I understand, from the buy catalogue they're on a scale from 1 to 10, or rather I think the lowest is 2, in my game. However I don't know what acceleration means in application to the game. I didn't know the vehicles could or did accelerate, never really noticed. Is that, like the time it takes for it to start going ... I suppose I have noticed some taking longer. I've never thought that they slow down when turning, but maybe they do ... So then, which number is the acceleration and what is faster or slower, and if your numbers for the adult bicycle are 20, 5, while the buy catalogue says Speed 2, then what is 20, 5 converted?
