Running A Different Disk ...

@Igazor I am going overseas for a month soon and will want to play my Sims at some stage. As I won't have wifi in one of the places I'll be staying at I won't be able to play TS4, so intend to play TS3. Now, I don't want to take my seasons disc in case something happens to it while I'm away, so I thought I'd just take the base game disk to do some building as I have two of the original base games and won't worry if anything happens to it.
BUT, when I did a trial run, the disk wasn't recognized as (I think) because I have Ambitions and Seasons installed in that order, and I play with the seasons disk inserted in my d drive.
I have found on line standard editions of seasons, but the one installed on my laptop is seasons limited edition. Will the standard one run since it's not technically the same as the disk already installed?

    I do - thankfully. I've kept my Sims 3 well away from Origin. It tries to trick me into updating through the Origin site, but I'm on to them and keep my Sims 3 and 4 well apart!

    Woo hoo! It worked! Straight in the slot and wham-o, straight in, no uninstall old one, reinstall new one. No licence key asked for, no registered disc number issues. I really was expecting complications! Happy!

    Okay, so I found this ...
    Firstly, "The Sims 3: Seasons" is referring to the standard edition of the Seasons expansion pack, and "Seasons Limited Edition" is the same as the standard edition except it contains additional exclusive content (an Ice Lounge community lot, an elegant ice bar, bar stool, pub table, ice furniture, and ice-themed build items). "The Sims 3 Plus Seasons" is a collection of two games; the core Sims 3 game and the Seasons expansion pack.



    So in short, Plus Seasons is if you don't already own The Sims 3, and then Seasons Limited Edition is if you want additional content.


    So I'm assuming, Seasons is Seasons, it should run all the same, it's a difference of content. Hence I have ordered it. Fingers crossed!

    Each disc comes with their own registry number. If the discs don't match up , I believe they won't work. you would probably have to uninstall your current version of seasons and install the new disc so the registry number to the disc matches up with your install in the game.

    That's what I thought. Going to give it a go anyway.
    I have two base games, obviously with separate license keys/numbers and don't remember having an issue. But won't know until I try I guess.

    If it does not work, you would just need to uninstall your old version of seasons and add the new disc. Not a big deal. Good luck :)

    Thanks phoebe, I'll report back. I should have it by next Tuesday, and for just $14 AU, won't be too disappointed if it doesn't work, BUT, am hoping it's a sealed copy so I know the licence key hasn't already been used. I've bought it off ebay :#

    Is the registry number different from the licence key?

    If you have a base game that does not require origin, you should not have an issue with origin and the code for your new seasons ep.

    some people do fine with this game and origin and some have constant issues. it's hit or miss and i too stay away from origin . I had constant issues with Ts4 and origin. i had to keep uninstalling and reinstalling origin so i fear it would mess up my ts3 game too
