You have just sat back down behind your desk opposite the elderly couple when the man speaks.
“We heard how you helped our friends when their homes flooded, and hope you can help us too,” Robin Nestlehut begins.
“I would love to help. Tell me what I can do for you,” you request, imagining that they must have lost their home in a similar natural disaster.
“It’s nothing like you must be thinking, please forgive us,” Robin’s wife, Wren, speaks up. “We have a big old farmhouse and a large farm to go with it.”
“Unfortunately, we can’t keep it up ourselves anymore and none of our children are interested in coming home to take it over, so we have to sell.” Robin looks away wistfully for a moment, then seems to brighten. “But we’ve decided to use the opportunity to downsize. We would like a small house with a small yard, which will be easier for us to care for.”
“Two bedrooms would be nice, one could serve as both a guest room and a hobby room,” Wren adds. “We’ll need two bathrooms as well.”
“Our favorite room in the farmhouse was the sunroom, so we would prefer a sunroom in the new house,” Robin requests.
“I think we can work with that. I hope you love your new home just as much as your old one,” you say.

The Brief:
*Budget: 35,000
The house needs:
*At least 2 beds and 2 baths
*One room must double as a guest room and hobby room.
*A sunroom
*The usual kitchen, living and dining areas.

Sims Challenge: Create Robin and Wren Nestlehut and show them enjoying their new home. Be sure to show all of their outfits in the slideshow.

The Build-n-Share challenges will be posted on the first of every month and run for one month. Results will be posted approximately one week after all entries have been submitted in the Winner's Circle thread.

All entries must be original work. Any competitor who submits another builder’s work will be disqualified and banned from any future Build-n-Share challenge. These competitors will also be removed from the Builders' Boulevard related websites if they have chosen to join (membership to the site and the Yahoo! group are not required to enter a Build-n-Share challenge).
Playing your lot to purposefully allow depreciation, i.e. to allow you to buy more stuff for the budget, is not allowed, you can of course play test your lot, but please make a note of the cost of the lot prior to testing and state this as your lot price. Also using 'low value/high quality' CC is a no no.
Please announce your official lot posting using the entry form. Make sure to leave the "Official Entry" label in red. This will help us see the entries in a sea of posts.
Entries must be submitted by midnight on the deadline (eastern time, USA).
Your media should include a variety of screenshots to best showcase your entry. Please include at least one clear shot of the main floorplan of the build. If your build has multiple floors, please take a screenshot of each floor.

Beginner--I have a little experience, but I'm still figuring a lot of things out. I would not call myself an official "builder" at this point.

Intermediate--I have been building for awhile. I know the basics and maybe a little more. I enjoy building, but it is not my primary focus with the game.

Advanced--I know the Sims, and the Sims knows me. My name is familiar to a lot of veteran players, and I've competed in and won some building challenges and maybe even been recognized in a community showcase or two. I know most of the cheats AND I know how to use them.

I was going to attempt this one but time just run away from me. It would have been another house for Novak though - I even went so far as to pull up his wiki page to see if I could get a better idea of his real-world tastes. Other people made lovely houses for him though; he won't notice the lack from me :)

I am going to try to answer this as best I can but you may want to wait for KittKat or someone else to give you a better answer.
I think the family room is just one area from the way the challenge has been rewritten, I may be wrong on this. As long as thier is seating at the counter then it is an eat-in kitchen. Some larger kitchens have a so-called "lounging bar" seperating the kitchen from a dining room and it is considered a eat-in kitchen. It is a new build so yes use your imagination.

^ What Scorp said :) Sorry that the challenge is a little confusing. My idea was that the Valentino has been living as a bachelor in a wonderful house for many years and now wants to keep the modern look but make it more family friendly. How you interpret that into your build is up to your imagination :D

# 141-142 "A Cottage in the Woods"

Level- Intermediate

Lot Size, Address & Final Cost: 40x40, 777 Vista Lane - Starlight Shore, $41,869

Lot Description & Details: I wanted to use the space on my map that was at the end of a road. Unfortunately the lot was too large for this contest so I deleted it and replaced it with a 40x40 lot and gave it the house number of 777 (since it was a lucky number) I wanted to go with a some rustic charm but still have the cave like area one expects to find treasure in. The basement of the house has only one entrance and it is from the foundation of the home. I used the hidden door for this so you can't see it. I also tried to make the foundation look like it was part of the existing rock formation. The wooded area around the home was the most challenging because I wanted to have a variety of trees so that the 'forest' would look more natural. I did use the moveobjects cheat to get the lights on the pathway positioned properly and to allow my sea-monster to be placed in the water. I hope you enjoy it even though I am not very good at taking screenshots. If you would like to see more of the screenshots from this lot please check out my studio, I will keep them all there until the end of the contest!

Constructive Criticism: I would love suggestions

Credits to other simmers: There is no custom content used in this lot.

I am new to this "challenge" and am very exited. However, I am not understanding where to submit the "Official Entry Form". I feel like a complete air-head but reall just confused because I'm a "NEWBIE". :oops:

This contest is almost over; but once its over the next will start and you could jump in on it on day 1. That would give you plenty of time to build, they tend to go for two weeks!

As for Landscaping, there's tutorials' around that could help, but practice is the best remedy! Anyway, I hope to see you enter sometime! :)

LOT SIZE ADDRESS & FINAL COST: 36x47; 53 Waterfall Way, Sunset Valley; $249997.00

LOT DESCRIPTION & DETAILS: I was inspired by the setting for this challenge. Stoney Falls creates such a beautiful outlook, & I wanted Finnur to be able to make the most of the view, hence the U shaped house. I kept the landscaping to a modern minimum by just adding a couple of focal points that blended in with the existing surroundings. I also wanted to really tailor this house to Finn and his traits.
About the house:
A very modern house built for the very modern business man who enjoys lifes luxuries & entertains at home regularly.
Overnight guests are no problem in this luxurious 3 bedroom, 4 bathroom ultra modern home.
An office, gym, and theatre are just a few of the features to be found here. The game rooms, pool & outdoor entertaining areas are sophisticated enough for the most discerning of guests.
A private deck with hot tub & bar is perfect for more intimate entertaining on the master suite level.
Decorated throughout with minimal color, although a lovely pallet of just a few hews highlights this home.

CONSTRUCTIVE CRITCISM: Yes Please

LOT DESCRIPTION & DETAILS: This Ultra Mod house has great views and modern luxury. Walk into a open media room attached to a game room with three stories of windows. Behind the media room you will find a workout room that leads outside to the pool deck and outdoor entertainment area. The kitchen features modern conveniences and faces the outdoor pool area. In the kitchen area you will find a elevator which takes you up to the music area and master suite. A office with access to a loft bedroom with private bath add a natural touch to the property. Last but not least the expansive garage houses the homes laundry area and 1/2 bath with stairs leading to a loft guest suite with kitchenette and private bath.
