- I usually start with 3 or so different household types but my favorite is to play a female child with an accompanying grandmother. Sometimes I include the mother who will form a relationship and move in with that sim leaving the child with the grandmother. The reason I even include the mother at all is to preserve the grandmother-granddaughter relationship. Anyway by the time my sim becomes a YA the grandmother has passed on.
I also like a single hetero YA female sim and or a household of YA sims and see what relationships form. - Usually I start with a single gay male sim, but sometimes I'll do a gay couple as steadies and get them married later. As for creating the sims I usually save interesting looking sims that I find in my games to the CAS bin and reuse them in later games. So 'creation' for me is about changing up their personality and clothing, I rarely alter their face sliders and never start from scratch anymore.
- I prefer to start out with a single Sim and maybe a pet for company, simply because I don't want to have too much on my plate when I'm introducing a new Sim into the town. I let them find their footing first (work on skills and career) for a little while at least before I start pairing them up. Why male Sims, I'm not entirely sure, but I guess it's because I'm generally better at creating male Sims in the first place
- I usually start out with a single female sim, I voted "Hetero" but tbh I just want and see what the sim wants to do. It's always a female sim though, I'm not sure why, maybe I'm just sticking with what I know? I just feel like I grow more attached to female sims more quickly, lol.

- If I'm playing with a legacy in mind, I usually start with a female YA sim. They'll usually have a kid with a guy but that doesn't mean they'll only date guys. I would love to try playing one of the pre-made households like I used to in TS2.
- @TinySpaceFox I like that we voted the same
I think a family I created would be the next choice. :) - My playthroughs are usually sort of ‘unlegacies’, i take the values of a legacy but ignore all the rules. So for me, it’s a healthy mix of a couple or a single sim. I usually start with a couple because two sims are more fun than one for me!
Usually my starting couple are same sex, probably simply because I’m gay & so, to quote Lily Tomlin, I have no interest in imitating heterosexuals. But when it comes to their children, or if I do end up playing a single sim, I usually just go with the wants that they roll. The Sims world is a big bisexual utopia, so I rarely apply sexuality on them like that. - I typically start with a single, bisexual, female YA sim
- I do tend to change things up from time to time, playing with a single YA male or female, but usually I start with a (straight) couple. For reasons I've shared before, they're really good at helping each other learn skills more quickly. I also like the challenge of giving them a baby right away while they're still on shaky ground, both financially and in their careers. Plus, it's fun to watch the kid(s) pick up new skills and start to make friends. But for some reason, I just like seeing them born in-game rather than emerging from CAS like their parents. I think I'm more attached to them and invested in how they turn out if I've been anticipating their development since before they were born.
