What's Wrong with My Game, Now! (SOLVED!)

Window pane fishes and dry grass everywhere!

Which part of my game has gone screwy? The Alley Cat fish image has been replaced with a window from the Haute Hip set and, all of the terrain paints select the 'Dry Grass' no matter which category of paint I select, they're all Dry Grass.

I haven't uninstalled the Haute Hip set yet to see if that would solve the problem because I've been trying to find a pool of water where Alley Catfish may jump, just to see if windows start leaping out of the water; but no such luck (yet). As for the terrain paints, not sure what pushed them over the edge.

    I sometimes get the terrain paint thing, usually if Ive been using a whole bunch on 1 lot. Saving, quitting, and restarting has always solved it for me.

    As for window fishes, I could not tell you.

    I got that on my family's home lot where the back door I kept trying to place kept getting replaced with a window after saving to reload.The baby's nursury kept getting relocated to the top floor of the house each time I moved it down to the main floor and it eventually led to the baby being taken away by the social worker.I lost that save after it got so corrupted that the UI failed to load and I suddenly couldn't even open it after that happened.

    I would check your save (if you go into the documents folder on your computer, then EA, then sims 3, then saves or something along those lines) and see if your save ends in .bad

    Its been a long time since I've had a save do that though so of course I forget the solution :/ hopefully someone else can jump in if this is the case

    Have you tried saving the house to the library, deleting it from the town, and then placing it back again? That might reset some weird glitchiness going on. But really I don't know. That's just a suggestion to try. :/

    @KATENESS - I expect the terrain paints to sort themselves out (eventually). They have glitched up on me before (not like this) and have always straightened themselves out; so I'm hoping that will still hold true. As for the fish, the grocery store also has the windows showing as the Alley Catfish. It's a worldwide problem, not a household one. Thanks for the suggestion, anyway.

    UPDATE:
    I solved my problem. My fish are fish again and the paints seemed to have worked themselves out. Since I play 'folder' games, I just copied the Thumbnail folder from one of my other games where things are working and replaced the faulty folder. All is well.

    @Goulsquash - I've had terrain paints act up on me before, but never to the point where any paint I chose returns with the same paint. I think the paint malfunction will eventually straighten itself back out.

    @TadOlson - I have never had any of my catalogs become confused before, this is a new one for me. I've heard of them getting crossed, just never experienced it until now. While I'm certain I won't see window (meshes) jumping and splashing about in the ponds, I would like to know how a base game catalog became confused with a store bought item. Most likely it's the fish thumbnail which is acting up or damaged.
