Tough choice. I really do like using the rabbithole jobs, work at them enough and you can make some serious dough with them (plus it gets my sims out of my hair for a few hours). But usually my sims pick up one of the self-employed careers (though unofficially of course, if they already have a rabbithole job) too, it's a good way to help out in the beginning and it gives them a hobby and a way to express themselves. It often tends to be gardening because they can keep some to eat and sell the rest. And it's something a sim can keep up even when they're pregnant or taking a bit of time off to look after a new baby.
