I think it has something to do with clothes or patterns. When she got up she was pitch black and her outfit was on her entire body. I tried to reset her, but she stayed the same. I minimized the screen and copied my file from the last save to the desk top. I went back in the game and saved and went to the main menu. I reloaded the game she wasn't fixed. I quit the game, deleted the 2 Riverview folders and put my copy in Saves. I loaded the game. I had her change into every outfit. She was pitch black in an everyday and her sleepwear. I changed those 2 outfits and now she's fine. Her hubby had this happen with his sleepwear, altho he didn't turn pitch black, but the pattern of his boxers were on his entire body. Also, why does it show that he has 4 everyday outfits when I click him to change outfits? At the dresser he shows the 3 we're supposed to have. Does that have anything to do with his Musician career? I am running a clean game now except for maybe 5 Fan patterns. I added 17 of my own patterns in early. I found images on the net, uploaded them to CAP, fixed them and then added them to my game. The clothes they had on though, weren't patterns from other Simmers or myself. The problem is solved, but I'm wondering why that happened. Thanks,Lea

What you diescribe is what the creators say some of their default skins will do with the patch previous to Ambitions and Ambitions. I guess there is a conflict with a whole bunch of these default skins, but from what they said you have to uninstall the default skins, then reinstall them in the game, then put any sims you have back into CAS and reapply the skins to fix them. Granted I have no clue how you get the Sims from a household into CAS, but apparently there is a way to do it.

Reg, there is a cheat for it, but since I use Suoercomp, I don't know it - SC does that just by clicking on the sim, it can also reset lots by clicking the ground, fix broken family ties and a lot more. One of the few mods I trust 100% and, it's always updted within 24 hours of EA sending out a patch or releasing a new EP or SP. Might want to look into it - it just goes in the mods folder and does nothing to any of the game files so, it's a snap to remove pre update or new install. Handy tool for reversing a lot of cc related glitches and a few EA related ones too without having to evict, move or otherwise tamper with the location of your sims.

Yeah, thanks DA, I don't have any CC myself, but I keep up to date on the creators forums whenever there is a new update, patch or ep, so I can try and help people with CC. I know with both the patch and Ambitions the Creators were mentioning a whole large number of skins, hairs, and makeup was getting problems this go round as how CAS is used was changed in Ambitions, so it negatively affects CC. But they mentioned that a sign that a skin default was conflicting was the sims would go black or take on the color of a CC pattern a sims is wearing. So I thought I'd mention it to Leah there, so she could know what her problem was. As they said you just had to uninstall the default skins and then reinstall them to correct how the game saw them, then put sims back in CAS and reapply the skins to make them look back to normal - at least on most of the skins this was considered the fix unless there was another conflict - like with tattooed skin. That, they said had to be removed from the game.But I had never heard of any way to get a household sim into CAS, so I had no clue. I usually don't pay attention to what mods actually do, just their names and how to fix them, and how to distinquish if they conflict. What is SC anyway? That one is foreign to me or does that stand for Twallans Super Computer perhaps?

Uninstalling anything default would be to reinstall the game as you previously stated.

Other than that I'm not sure. Try uninstalling it and reinstalling it and see if you have the same problem.

Hi Reg, I'm done with Fan CC. There is no Fan CC in my game. My game is clean. Do you have any other ideas? Thanks for posting.

Ahhh.. edit to say that I do have several Fan made patterns.

I just came from my game. My Sim wanted to throw a party. In the menu a townie's face is pitch black. I guess I don't understand what you're saying Reg.

I really don't want to help you with this. lol I've had the worst experiences with Fan made hairs, packages and mods. After 10 years I just gave all that up and I'm pretty bitter about it all. How long have you been playing the sims? Are you SURE that you want 3rd party content in your game??

I'm going to assume that the Sims uploaded here are ok to download. I just made a sim a couple of days ago and tried to upload her and I couldn't. Come to find out, I used one of my custom patterns for her lingerie. I changed the pattern to an EA pattern and she uploaded to the site. I love what Sim Fans make, but I refuse to download them into my game anymore. For example, my game took about 10 minutes to load... the family file. Upon investigation 2 hair files were HUGE. I took them out and then my family file loads in under 2 minutes. This was about a week before I finally said enoughs enough on the Fan CC. Since I got rid of Fan CC - my crashes have mainly stopped (once a week versus 8 times in 2 hours), I rarely get any error 12's, 13's or 16s anymore. They also caused the worst glitches. I am so Anti-Fan CC now.

Ah, this is your decision, but I don't recommend it. You need a mods folder. I think now it goes into The Sims 3 folder in documents. Inside that you need a package folder. When you download .package files from Fans (not to be confused with what you get here) you put the files there. You'll also need a resource file and I think some kind of .dll for them to show up. The .dll is d3dx9_31. You can do a search for it online to download. Also search for a TS3 resource file, I guess. See, I'm not sure where everything goes anymore. Things keep changing. You might want to do a search for a tutorial for these things. I think The Sims Resource center and Mod The Sims have a tutorial there and you can probably get the files there too.

Is it a problem with your launcher? Why not try using the shortcut from Program files>Electronic Arts>The Sims 3 Ambitions folder.

If you had CC in your game and that Sims was created with a default skin or face mask or even face and body sliders and you either removed your CC or updated you game to the newest patches, then that sim is going to turn black because either way it no longer has access to the skins, masks, or sliders that made her.

If you still had your CC, according to the creators at modthesom all skin defaults and masks have to be reapplied to sims or sims turn black that were made with these skins, masks and slider. If you removed the CC, your sims will still turn black because she was made with either a skin or face mask default or sliders that you no longer have.

LuvinSims - the baby problem is from bad CC - look in your downloads for CC called day and nightime boots. It makes babies turn half black and half white. You need to get rid of those CC boots and shoes with that name.
