I would say the biggest tips are making sure the game recognizes your graphics card as well as limiting your fps. There’s plenty of tutorials on how to do both of these and it’s well worth the time to do it and make sure the game doesn’t overheat your card. "Astro;c-17871053" wrote:

I didn't even realise that was possible... I had my fps at 75 but now I'm nervous. I'll definitely look into this now! Thanks so much!- Try the "steam performance guide for sims 3". Google that. You'll find it. It has a lot of steps and links for fixed worlds, to avoid sims getting trapped in old ea's worlds.
I have been redescovering sims 3 for not even a month yet, with a new computer, doing sessions of more than 10 hours straight and have had no problems at all. I have all expansion and stuff packs and a few store content and store worlds.
Well, what have i been doing? Well, let's say my male sim has been abducted and got pregnant with a handsome alien, that is now an inventor. Meanwhile he has married a werewolve and we're a happy family. We had vacationed in egypt and paris, we have mined our backyard, we have played with magic and been transformed into a frog and so many other things   - Also take a look at nraas mods, at least errortrap and overwatch. They will "clean" your game every sim day.
- @Astro From what I've seen, capping my FPS to 75 is fine as my monitor allows for 75 so phew! My fps was actually 144 before I checked out what you had said!
Thank you again :)
@texxx78 Thanks for the recs! I've just checked it out and some awesome info in there. How are you liking TS3 with a newer PC? I've found it absolutely incredible! Finally smooth graphics! OOOH! That sounds amazing <3 I've still never had a sim abducted after all these years and games! Sounds like a fun time for sure :)
I've downloaded some of Nraas mods and some of them are conflicting with my CC, so I've just got the basics for now and will look further into the other mods/what's causing the issues later this week :)
Hello and welcome back to TS3... :)
Yes, we are still a very active community even though some of us also have TS4 installed on our PC's but we all eventually return to TS3 as there is more fun things to do in the game. I have TS4 base game only as I haven't brought any of the packs as they still cost way too much money plus the fact that I still have fun with TS3. Even though I have been playing TS3 since 2011, I still haven't even scratched the surface of the game meaning that I haven't play with every single trait, jobs/careers, adventures and such... :)
I don't know if you have seen the "What happened in your Sims 3 game today?" over here in The Sims 3 General Discussions section but here is the link for it. It's been active since 2015 and we are now up to page 4184... :)
https://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/808585/what-happened-in-your-sims-3-game-today#latest- I'm going to play the devil's advocate and say that if your PC is running TS3 flawlessly, then why bother with mods that will drag down the performance and compete for the CPU and/or GPU attention while also putting more strain on the game engine of a 32-Bit application? Of course not all mods will drag down performance but the ones to be careful of are those that do indeed add more work for the CPU/GPU/Game Engine.
I do use mods but I also play without mods or game altering mods so I know the difference between how TS3 runs at peak performance in comparison besides leftover glitches. I'm so tired of poor performance in my modded game but never the case in my non modded or no game altering mods TS3 folders. I'll have to change my playstyle sooner or later.
Besides that, which of course is your decision, just a heads up regardless of the whole "Mods...You Need Mods to play TS3!" viewpoint.
If you do not already know about Save As, then use that instead of Save and back up all your saves so should a glitch take place or something you can always go back to a previous save. So save often. Back up pretty much everything you want like Sims, Screenshots, Videos, the whole TS3 Folder, etc. If you have enough space that is as TS3 can get extremely large if you are the type of player saving a lot of data. I don't know, I guess I have over 2 TB worth of TS3 data over the course of 11+ years.
=======
I have not been playing as much as I usually do because I have been playing other games. But what has been happening in my game recently:
Yoshi visited his parents to see his younger sister Megumi and younger twin brothers Kaito and Jun'ichi. He didn't get a chance to see his other brother Mikael because he went to sleep.

My Sim Richelle gave birth to two twin girls who Yoshi is the father of. Violet and Hazel.

I switched households and now I am playing a large family in which the wife also gave birth to twins. A girl, Awa and a boy, Dakarai.

I have no idea why so many twins but I love growing families and generations so I'm not really complaining. - @StayGoldxO 3 with a gaming pc is awesome! I have played 3 from release but left it around 2013 i believe because of the lag. For me it's like i'm playing now like i never did before, enjoying everything 3 has to offer and all it's complexity without lag, with high resolution... it's awesome!

Thank you! I’ll check out the thread now. It’ll take some time to go through that many pages hehe.
Yess. I think everyone reverts to TS3 as the gameplay is so immersive and detailed. So much to discover!! I’m so glad I downloaded it again.
The sims 4 is great - but I can garantee you as a Ts3 player you will prefer TS3 even if you had all TS4 packs. I just love building which is why I use TS4 quite a bit!
What is your favourite career in TS3?- @Deshong04 I still haven’t figured out how to reply without showing your whole thread ?
I won’t be using too many mods in TS3. I will use custom content but I don’t believe TS3 mods will change anything for me at all - I do think my pc could handle it though as I’m positive my current pc can launch a rocket ? but you’re right - no need to fix something that’s not broken!
Amazing advice re saving and backing up as honestly not something I’d ever have thought of so thank you!
You’re sims are amazing! I love their names and the babies are so cute ?? thank you for reminding me how amazing the family play is in ts3. I returned for the Generations pack for sure ?
