Can't Load the Sims 3
I've been scouring these forums and tried everything that I can figure out how to do and nothing has worked.
Every time I try to load up The Sims 3, the launcher works fine. However, when I try to load into the actual game, the screen goes black and freezes. I can turn off my screen and turn it back on to have something else pop up on the loading screen, but it stays frozen unless I turn off my screen, if that makes any sense. This has been going on since December. I have attached my DXDIAG since I've seen that that has helped others, but I simply don't know what to do. I've tried:
- repairing my game
- uninstalling my game
- entering windowed mode
- installing Direct X
- using “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” and “sfc /scannow” which found corrupt files and "repaired them".
- used the reliability monitor, which said "The program TS3.exe version 0.2.0.32 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Security and Maintenance control panel." which may be because I close it with task manager when it does not work.
I play on a Surface Pro 7, which previously ran the game. If anyone has any suggestions, please tell me!
@JordanIsHotter Thanks for providing the dxdiag and all the other info; it makes things a lot easier for me.
Under Windows Settings > System > Display > Graphics > Default graphics settings, please disable Variable refresh rate and Optimizations for windowed games. Please also continue to test in windowed mode, at least for now.
If that doesn't work, please move the entire Sims 3 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts, if you haven't already, to let the game create a new one with no content. (Your saves and other content won't be read but will still be intact in the folder you've moved.) The game will create a new Options.ini file, so you'll need to force windowed mode again.
