Hi I have had this issue since I built this PC a few months back and haven't been able to play the Sims 3 on my nice new gaming pc yet. Everytime i try to load a new world it says "a serious error occurred while trying to load "nameofworld.word, we strongly recommend restarting the application". I tried moving the sims 3 files and having it create new ones but it doesn't help. Through research I found out onedrive is most likely the culprit, i tried pausing onedrive but it did nothing. However, most people say you have to literally DELETE onedrive alltogether to get it to work and that is not something I'm willing to do. Any solutions that don't involve removing onedrive? I'm really desperate to able to play The Sims 3 on my new custom built gaming pc. I literally got all the other sims games working on it, and I don't mean the legacy editions, I mean the original versions. I have the Sims 1 complete collection and the Sims 2 ultimate collection running on this pc by using some internet fixes. But i still can't get The Sims 3 and it's driving me crazy, I love The Sims 3. Please help.
neoromanempire You can absolutely stop OneDrive from backing up Documents. Please see the first post of this master thread for more details:

An alternative is to create a new admin Windows account, making it local (as in, don't link your Microsoft account or any email address). A local account has no OneDrive tie-in by definition.

I dont see any way to do it on that post. My documents folder isnt listed as a folder i can opt out of syncing to onedrive.
