game freezing every single time - macbook air

Hi,  i know the game isnt made for macbook, but my game crashes everytime now. i dont even play long, maybe 1 hr or even less. saving takes forever so i dont do it every 30 mins (i cant even get to a saving worthy point lately because it freezes before i plan to). i have no mod and no CC! thinking of deactivating some packs (like pets and world adventures) even though i see no option to do so. i tried every single keyboard shortcut to force save, force menu, force build/buy mode, force quit to trigger saving- NOTHING! my laptop reacts, i can move my mouse and use other apps, the water or trees move and the music keeps playing but no reaction whatsoever. its totally random and not whenever i do a certain thing. i do have to say i play every family in the world because i love to change their households, so i modify a lot of families but thats all i do. like i said, no mods or custom content! 

please help, i love my files because i feel the city has so much progression... its boring to stick with one fam. 

any ideas how else to force safe or what to do for smoother experience? i'm really upset at this point. i played since 2012 and spend so much money on packs. my laptop is from 2018 - german keyboard
