Zeekslider, I tried what you posted (If you want to reset your tombs, I believe they said you had to switch to a different household, as the Tombs would remain that way for your active household. Switching households would mean that family has yet to even see that tomb let alone explore it, so it would reset the tomb). I switched to a different household in that neighborhood and the wife went and nothing reset - the secret doors were still open, traps disarmed, mummies out. And that was the 3rd house after the 1st house. Meaning the 1st house in the neighborhood got to go through and solve things and the 2nd, 3rd, and this 4th was still solved and not reset. This is stupid that it doesn't reset. It's boring just going through and just collecting the treasure with no secret doors to open, traps to disarm or mummies to discover. I don't know what to do here.
Edit: Zeeksilder, I found something interesting - in the Forum Index World Adventures (here on the site of course) in a thread called Tombs Not Resetting, here is what SimGuruLily said on 12/04/09: "Hey everyone. To clarify, tombs are not supposed to reset within the same save game, even when switching active households. Various relics and treasures will respawn if you come back on another trip, but the only way to play a tomb fresh all over again is to do so in a new neighborhood. Our apologies if you read information suggesting otherwise. We do encourage you to build your own tombs and download other player-made tombs if you're looking for something new to try." That was actually a fresh neighborhood I was playing which was why it worked for the 1st person and not anyone after. Oh well. I hope they do fix that. I still think tombs should reset for each household and not solved for everyone except the first person.
Again, they aren't going to fix it because it's a game feature, like they stated in the post you found. If you want to play the tombs again, you're going to have to start a new game every time. Otherwise, the only things you'll be able to do on vacations after you've cleared a tomb is all the little stuff like "Take a photo of a trap" or "Bring 3 gators to a Sim" quests.
Though I would hold off on the Photo quests because of how Generations KILLED the Photography skill and everything with it.
