I'm reluctantly joining the pack of individuals who has their downloads tab crash whenever they try to download worlds (Roaring Heights, Monte Vista, and Hidden Springs) from the game launcher.
I've spent a LOT of time today going through tons of methods to try and fix this without much luck so far. Here's what I have:
Macbook Pro (2021) with Apple M1 Pro chip, running Sequoia 15.6.1
Here's what I've tried (with a majority of the steps thanks to puzzlezaddict ):
- deleted .bin files from the "Downloads" and "Sigscache" folders
- repaired the game and restated computer
- Deleted the "downloads" folder so it can create a fresh one, tried downloading one pack (roaring heights) and it let me open it for a moment but crashed after a real minute)
- Deleted "The Sims 3" folder from Documents > Electronic Arts and reopened Sims, began download from the Sims 3 store, and it stayed open momentarily again for 1 minute before crashing
- Created a new Admin just for the Sims, repaired game, tried to download content, still crashing.
- I ALSO tried a method from this youtube video where i tried to copy the .sims3pack content from the desktop>downloads folder, deleted the old sims 3 folder, opened the app to create a fresh folder, then add them back into downloads, where they all showed up in the downloads folder but still crashed.
posting here in case this helps jump start another potential solution for this issue, but it seems like these worlds will just not load until EA fixes them. Would love to know anyone else's thoughts on this. Thanks!
