I can download and start the game; expansion packs work too (though I don't have them all). However, I warn anyone against buying from the store. Items from there go to the download folder and use a ".Sims3pack" file format. Trying to install this will crash the launcher, and they can't be clicked to be installed either. Plus, if you leave them in the folder and run the game, it can create further issues like your normal left-clicking not working.... So do not waste money on Sims 3 store items if you're a Mac user. Not even new worlds work.
For me my launcher crashes as well when trying to download stuff, I have noticed though if you go to the save file page once starting the game and click the 3 dots and click download dasboard, my newly bought world hidden springs showed up there and i was able to download it if you just wait and dont actually click on any buttons when it redirects u to the launcher, and hit play while the other sims 3 save page is running on the other tab it'll download the world successfully.
