- SimmingPuddin3 years agoRising TravelerDo you have any mods? If I remember the cupcake mod from nraas will make it crash if you don't have the bakery in the game?
- @Puddinroy I do but it's not in my Sims 3 folder, I backed up my mods separately before I reinstalled windows and the Sims 3 folder in my documents hasn't generated yet to even have any mods in it. I don't actually remember if I have the cupcake mod or not.
- If by fresh install of Windows, you mean you wiped your C drive, you'll need to manually install DirectX 9 again. Here's how:
https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-PC/SIMS-3-GAME-WON-T-LAUNCH-WINDOWS-10/m-p/10711778#M247861
Simply downloading DX9 and launching the installer doesn't always do the trick, so please follow all the steps in the above post.
If that doesn't help, please post a dxdiag. Hit Windows key-R, enter "dxdiag" without quotes, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the .txt file to your desktop. Upload it to a filesharing site (the free version of pastebin.com is fine) and link it here. - @puzzlezaddict Hi! I have installed DirectX 9 already and after actually seeing something you said on this thread over on EA's answers I contacted EA Help about my product codes because I had packs moved over from another account, albeit a long time ago. They couldn't find anything wrong but apparently passed my case over to the product specialist so I am waiting to hear back from them.
I have put my dxdiag here for you though if you still wanted to check it out - This error, repeated over in your dxdiag:
Event Name: CLR20r3
Response: Not available
Cab Id: 0
Problem signature:
P1: sims3launcher.exe
P2: 1.0.0.0
P3: 568d485b
P4: Sims3Launcher
P5: 1.0.0.0
P6: 568d485b
P7: 93b
P8: 129
P9: System.DllNotFoundException
P10:
is exactly what happens when DX9 isn't properly installed. So if you simply downloaded and ran the installer, and DX9 didn't fully install (it didn't for me when I tested), that would explain why you're still getting these. That is, if you're still getting the errors—a dxdiag doesn't list timestamps.
To that end, please check the Reliability Monitor for any Sims 3 errors that happened after you installed DX9. Hit Windows key-R, enter "perfmon /rel" without quotes, and you'll see a list of errors and updates with a column for each day. I don't need to see the full output; just let me know what you find from after you installed DX9.
If you are still getting the above error, and it won't look exactly the same but will have most of the same info, please install DX9 again as I wrote in my other post. If that doesn't work either, make sure .NET Framework 3.5 is active. Hit Windows key-R, enter "appwiz.cpl" without quotes, click "Turn Windows features on or off," and you'll see .NET 3.5 at the top of the list. If the box next to it is filled in, it's active; if it's empty, click that box, let the framework install, and restart your computer. - @puzzlezaddict Yeah I noticed that after rereading your previous comment and added in an edit I installed it properly and it launches now, sorry for wasting your time looking at my dxdiag ?
- No worries, it only takes me a couple minutes to do a first read of a dxdiag, which isn't a big deal at all.
I'm glad to hear your game works now.
