makeup glitch? the sims 3 ambitions

So my female sim has on makeup, which I locked so it can be used for all outfits. However, the eyeshadow part of it always changes to a random style, even after I fix it and move to a new outfit, even while still in the create a sim part. I fix the issue, exit CAS then notice the makeup reset itself again to a random (The Sims 3 future) eyeshadow. Is it bugged? Any ideas on how to fix?
