okay here's what happened. I could't find a way to download it with origin.. so I used the disk, downloaded it with no problem, then patched it with no problem. I followed every step very clearly. they I launched it through origin and it asked for me to update the store, but before I did that, I cancelled and pressed play and it said "disk authentication failure: no disk found" blah blah blah. I inserted the disk and the same message popped up.
Do you have any Store content installed ?

No, in the game launcher it says there is nothing. i've never had it work on this computer so there is none

So here's the thing: If you downloaded it from the discs, then you have to continue using the discs, i.e. using Origin won't make a difference because it still expects you to use the disc (i hope this makes sense).
Since you installed the disc versions of the game, that error is going to happen randomly. Some people attribute it to certain store content interfering, but as you pointed out you have none. There is this EA help post on the topic, but I've never heard of any of these things actually fixing the problem--> (https://help.ea.com/article/what-steps-can-i-take-to-attempt-to-correct-a-disc-authentication-error). The error sometimes goes away for a while and then comes back.
One good thing to try is to Verifying and Repairing Disk Permission (i'm copying/pasting these steps from EA's post.)
Please follow this file path- Finder Folder -> Utilities -> Disk Utilities.
- Make sure that you are in the First Aid Tab.
- In this window you will see Verify disk Permissions and Repair disk Permissions buttons.
- Verify the Disk Permissions first because the process is not as long as repairing.
If that doesn't help, and you definitely can't see the option to download the games in your Origin account, then I think the next thing to do would be to contact customer support (Here is a link to contact them: https://help.ea.com/en/contact-us/ask). Explain that you would like to add your games to your Origin account and they didn't show up by themselves like they were supposed to since you registered them on the Sims. They'll walk you through some of the same instructions about adding them but they'll also be able to maybe give you a new number if it's something with that. Once that is sorted out, you can uninstall the physical disc version of the last EP you added and install it back in through Origin as a digital download, so you don't need a disc to play. (Note: You don't have to reinstall all your games if you don't want to since it is working otherwise, just the EP the game wants you to insert the disc from).
Hope it all works out and sorry for another long post 😕mileyembarrassed:
