Re: [Resolved] Sims 3 expansion/stuff pack download error

@puzzlezaddict Thank you for getting back to me! These are the steps I've tried with no success. I cleared Origin cache and tried to redownload Supernatural and got the error. I then uninstalled Origin and used CCleaner to clear my registry. I reinstalled the EA App and tried the download again...still an error but I also noticed the EA App says I have two copies of Movie Stuff when I don't. And when I do try to install Supernatural on the EA App it acts like it's going to redownload the Sims 3 base game again as well...which could be normal, I'm not used to this app. After the error, I uninstalled the EA App, cleared my registry again and reinstalled Origin because I'm more comfortable there. I tried to download the expansion one more time and got the same error. I'm at a loss at what to do now. Thanks again for the help.

    @LoreGalore  When you cleaned your computer's registry, did you by any chance also delete any registry entries related to the Sims 3 base game?  If so, that may be why the EA App tried to download the game a second time.  It's normally supposed to recognize the games Origin has already installed, but without the registry entries, and with the game likely not being in the EA App's defaul install location (you can see it's EA Games rather than Origin Games), the App may not have found it.

    I'm also curious whether the game launches at all at this point.

    Anyway, at this point, I'd usually suggest uninstalling the entire game and reinstalling to a different folder than the one it's currently in, preferably a new folder you create yourself (e.g. C:\Games).  But if this is one lingering symptom of the partly-resolved EA-side download issues, you may not be able to reinstall the game at all, at least not until EA fixes this problem completely.  I don't know when that will be.

    Do you have access to a different computer where you could test?  It would be useful to confirm whether the issue was particular to your system.

    @puzzlezaddict Hello again! I only removed items from the registry that had to do with Origin and the EA app only. The game with the rest of the dlc does launch and play really well with no issues so far over the past three days. Earlier I asked my sister to login to my account to see if she could try to download Sims 3 + Supernatural only and she had the same issue with Supernatural so it's a relief it's not my system. I'm nervous about uninstalling/reinstalling the whole series again...I'd rather have some Sims dlc than none but I will definitely try it again soon.

    @LoreGalore  It does sound like there's an issue on EA's end, either overall or with your account.  I can ask someone from EA to take a look, but it'll likely be a couple days at least before you get a response.

    @puzzlezaddict I uninstalled Sims 3 and the dlc over the weekend and just attempted to reinstall. Everything is queueing up properly and installing right now! Thank you so much for all of your patience and help!

    @LoreGalore  I'm glad to hear that, but my real contribution here was just flagging your issue for someone who could actually fix it.  That person is happy to see this resolved too.

    Hello there! I'm sorry to piggy back on this thread but I am having the same issue with Supernatural download error. I've tried the steps listed in this thread along with contacting EA support (they've been no help...). Is there any way you could help me? I'd so appreciate it!

    Hello!

    I am having the same issue myself except my issue is with university life, High end loft stuff and Late-night expansion... I have done everything suggested in this thread and contacted support twice who just ask me to either uninstall orgin and use EA app or uninstall EA app and use origin lol.. i am going around in circles at this point. 

    Both the EA app and origin app are not installing the same things but will work perfectly fine with the base game and all my other expansion/stuff packs 

    Please help!!

    Hi im having the same issue just with THE SIMS 3 INTO THE FUTURE im getting same error and tried the same steps she did and i'm still not able to download then i made the mistake of uninstalling app then redownload so now i'm not able to download any of my expanion packs with getting the error to restart the EA app SOMEONE PLEASE HELP BEEN EXPERIENCING SINCE FRIDAY!!!

  • I did the same thing unfortunately. Couldn't get the one I wanted, uninstalled all of them, and now I have none of them. There's probably a lesson somewhere in here about trusting EA.

    Maybe yall will stop pre-ordering digital games now.

    I'm having the same issues. They said they're on the final ends of fixing the issue. No date to be given but just to trust they're working on it, which I do! Will be patiently waiting till this resolved, considering, this game is too old to get a refund, apparently.

    I'm also experiencing this. I can't dowload in Norwegian either, even though I choose it in the installer, always English. Also, the game does not work easily on a new laptop with a 12th gen Intel processor. Yay.

    @puzzlezaddict I need some help to i’ve been trying to download my Sims pack since yesterday and I’ve been reading all these comments and I kinda get a gist of what to do but just in case if it doesn’t work, can you see if they’ll help me because all I wanna do is play me some Sims 3 Thank you

  • That's what happened to me between yesterday and today. Just installed EA app. The EA app thinks I have 2 of two stuff packs and 2 of one Expansion pack so I had to go in and uncheck the "duplicates" so they wouldn't cause an error during download. It worked BUT now there is one stuff pack that refuses to download and has given me error messages for the last day. I got everything Sims 3 to download except Fast Lane Stuff. If I uninstall and try to reinstall the whole of my Sims 3 collection then it will stop at Fast Lane Stuff which is why I left it out from the add-ons checklist to make sure everything else worked. That being said, I still haven't tried to boot the actual game or copy over any of my save files since I'm nervous about all these error messages and paused downloads.

    @b3cb2ff68e8eeb18 I also am having the weird duplicate issue, however it won't let me download any of the packs, even if I uncheck the duplicates.

    @b3cb2ff68e8eeb18 FAst Lane has been my problem child ever since this began. I can still play even after the errors but it doesn't always load everything so I am putting it on hold. I do have all the discs but even with them the errors are still there. Hasn't affected any of my saves as yet.
