Re: [Resolved] Sims 3 expansion/stuff pack download error

So, I've purchased 19 The Sims 3 expansions, but none of them can be downloaded from the EA App.

If I do a complete install, including the main game and 19 add-ons, the main game installs first and then I get a "hick-up" message telling me to restart the EA app. After that, I cannot download any of the add-ons.

If I do a single full install of only the main game, the result is the same afterwards. There is no error message, but nothing happens when I try to download the expansion add-ons.

I've tried the following:

  • Installing the EA App on various drives and in various folders.
  • Running the EA App as admin.
  • Doing multiple "App Recoveries" / "Cache Clearings"
  • Turning off all virus and firewall related software.

The Sime 3 launcher and game runs just fine, but there is no way of adding any add-ons. The download buttons just greys out when clicked, and then nothing happens.

Seems I just blew a lot of money on nothing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • @Szyrack Same issue, I been trying to troubleshoot for days and I do have a bit of computer tech under my belt. I tried using my sons computer just to check but it's the same thing so it definitely is on EA's side. I was told it will take some time to fix but I also seen that someone had theirs fixed by someone in EA, her issue was flagged to someone that knew how to fix it I guess so she's lucky? Not sure why one get's fixed but so many not, All I know is it's hard to be patient and I'm actually really ticked off about it, to the point of getting this on media, due to consumer rights

    Yeah they are basically ripping the clients off, if they are aware of them problem, but don't give any warning to NOT BUY expansion packs at the moment.
    It is hard to be patient if you are clearly the lowest priority as a customer of EA, and EA doesn't lack the money to do more action for costumer friendlyness, so they are just thinking they are big enough to not care.

    That's whats upsetting. 

    We could make a discord were we can collect the people with the issues, and write together to any bigger gaming paper or blog if you wanna ^^

    I study computer science but I don't want to work in EA at all, if i see how they just ignore us.

    If i am blocked, you will know why LOL

  • @Sayuniqz I have a sims discord and I’m a small youtuber but I’m going to reach out to a cple bigger ones as well write a letter, just try to get something moving and get some advice on how to deal with this..
  • I am glad i found this! was driving me mad not being able to install any of my add ons and not understanding why. definitely seems like EA needs to make this a priority seeing how many of us are just trying to play our game..

    They've disabled the help page for Sims 3 with a prompt that simply asks for an email address. Very cool stuff.

    @psychonot23 I've spoken with someone that might be able to get through to them but I don't want to create false hope. Like she said EA is a tough one to crack. If this doesn't budge em, I suggest we all do what you @Sayuniqz suggested.
