Re: Sims 3 .dmg Package Includes Unusable 32-bit installer

@686e84fce082d055  That's very strange—the EA App isn't even supposed to offer the 32-bit version of Sims 3.  (The App's minimum requirement is Catalina, which can't run 32-bit apps anyway; users of Mojave and earlier still run Origin.)  And it's not a common problem—you're the first to report it on this site, including among those who don't have the 64-bit "entitlement" on their accounts in the first place.

Your issue may well be that missing 64-bit entitlement, so please go back to support and ask that it be added to your account.  Feel free to link this master thread, which mentions expansions but is equally valid for the base game:

https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-Mac/Redeemed-Sims-3-codes-but-wont-download-as-says-only-available/m-p/13789348#M21468

Perhaps an accepted solution from an EA community manager will help.

If you get the 64-bit entitlement added and the App still tries to download the 32-bit installer, please let me know.  I can flag the issue, although it might be a few days before there's a response considering it's a long weekend in the U.S.

  • Thank you very much. Once I got a competent person in EA Chat they were able to grant me the entitled 64-bit version. I am currently having trouble with getting the expansion packs, and they want me to pay $19.99 even though I just redeemed multiple CD Keys that say I own each. They are telling me the packs I own are Windows only and my current agent doesn't seem to believe I am trying to access using a mac for some strange reason.

Anyways thanks for your help, if you have any other tips to get the expansion packs redeemed I greatly appreciate it!

@686e84fce082d055  Unfortunately, the answer for your expansion packs is the same as the answer for the base game: you'll need a support rep to add the 64-bit versions to your account.  The master thread is the same too, although if you want to go back further, this is the old thread with posts that predate the EA App:

    https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-Mac/SOLVED-64-bit-Sims-3-content-not-in-Origin-library/td-p/9653314

This should be fixable, but as you've seen, sometimes it takes multiple conversations with different reps before you get the help required.

  • Thanks again for your help. It took a while, but support was finally able to validate the keys and get me the 64-bit versions.
