Then it's probably just that family/savegame.
If you're fine with starting fresh, could you please accept a solution, otherwise let me know if you want further help.
Go to the options menu at the bottom left corner of your screen.
Click on "Save As" and save your current household as a new game.
Now go back to your options menu
Click on "Main Menu"
Once at the main menu you will see that you now have two saves. Delete your old game.
Select your most recent save and click the check mark.
Doing this should return your game to normal.

I Seem to have sims not taking care of them selves now and again and not taking care of their pets, or toddlers, The things I find helps sometimes either moving house , rebuilding the one their in, or playing with another household for a while, then going back to play with the one I was having issue with, but I find it a bit annoying and wish it did not keep happening.
