Re: The Sims 3 Store Content Won't Show Up in Game

I am also having this problem.  I have re-downloaded my store content 3 times...only to have it disappear.  I installed Origin tonight and tried through there.  Now the installer won't launch, and I can no longer install any content through the launcher.  I tried in both EA Play and Origin.  The installer won't launch for either.  I tried moving my Sims 3 folder and starting from a fresh install.  That didn't make a difference.  I tried a computer restart.  That didn't make a difference.  I'm not sure what to do now, but boy is this frustrating!!

  • @Fl0wingwater  I've split your post into its own thread since you (now) have a different issue than what's covered in the other thread.

When you moved the Sims 3 folder, did you move the user folder in Documents > Electronic Arts, or the one that contains the game's program files?  If you didn't move the user folder, please try it now.

If that doesn't help, please let me know whether OneDrive is running, even if you don't use it, and how full it is.  Please also run a dxdiag and attach it to a post.

The store content issue may now be fixed:

But it's best to leave installing store content for later, once the game is running properly.

@puzzlezaddict Thanks for your response! I ended up solving my issue of the installer not working by uninstalling EA Play and Origin, and reinstalling just EA Play.  (I think since I have an Alder Lake processor, the patch I used for that got messed up with the Origin install, because my game reverted back to the symptom of not launching that I had before installing the Alder Lake patch.). Anyway, on that fresh install of EA Play, my store content momentarily showed up.  Then when I quit the game and came back it was gone again.

And, yes, I had removed my user folder, not the one in program files. I'm a pro at that, now...lol.  I also have OneDrive running (news to me...it's a new computer, and I just moved back to a gaming PC from a Mac). It is full.

I'll try the suggestions in the link you posted.  Thanks for that!  I was ready to just give up on my store content.  I'll let you know how that goes.

@puzzlezaddict The solution recently posted by EA did not work.  I downloaded a couple test items from the store last night.  They downloaded and installed okay.  However, when I checked the launcher today they were gone. I used EA Play, as I believe using Origin is creating an issue where I can't start the game due to my Alder Lake processor.

Game launched okay. The launcher works to install other CC.  Sims 3 Store content turned into boxes in the downloads section.  Since I have resolved the launcher issues, do you still need to see a DXDiag?

I should also say that I played the game last night, and store content was showing in game.  It seems it will show for the first game session after installing, but after you quit, it disappears.

@Fl0wingwater  If your only remaining issue is that your store content is breaking, then no, I don't need to see a dxdiag.  For the store content, it's possible the fix is still being rolled out, so please check back in let's say 24 hours or so (from now) and let me know whether you're still seeing the same issue.

And just to reiterate, any content that's broken will stay broken, but when (if) the issue is fixed, new content you download into a new Sims 3 user folder should keep working.  It's easy enough to test in a new user folder and trash that folder if you're still running into trouble.

I thought from your description that you'd probably moved the user folder, but I have also seen a number of players get confused and move the program files for one game or another, so I wanted to make sure.

@puzzlezaddict Thanks.  Yes, to be clear, I'm downloading fresh content from the store each time. I'll try again in a fresh Sims 3 folder in a day or so and let you know how it goes.

@puzzlezaddict Just wrapping up this thread.  I wanted to give it a while to see if my store content was indeed staying, and it seems it has for the past couple weeks.  It seems the issue may be resolved.  Thanks for your help!
