Registering second hand games

I bought The Sims 3, The Sims 3 Generations, and The Sims 3 Pets from a charity shop in the UK. The shop had the whole Sims 3 collection, but I only purchased these three because they were the only ones that contained the slips of paper with the serial number on them - which I knew I would need.

When I tried to install them, I was blocked from proceeding as they were already registered. I have raised a case with EA, but their replies are a little slow. After providing proof of purchase with photos of the discs in their boxes (which include the charity shop logo sticker on them), along with the serial number papers for each game, they have requested I contact the retailer - which I don't think will be possible seeing as where I bought them. So I tried to explain the situation again, and the latest reply simply asked for my EA email address and EA/Origin ID (which I thought would be obvious seeing as I am logged in to raise the case in the first place).

Feels like getting nowhere, is there any community advice on how I can resolve this problem?

  • @AndrewD92  There is no way to resolve this problem, unfortunately.  EA does not allow games or DLC to be registered a second time, whether the new owner has proof of purchase or not.  You won't be able to add any of this content to your account, and since it sounds like you're forced to use the EA App to install the game, the discs are effectively unusable.
