[Resolved] Sims 2 and Sims 3 won't run after 25 Jan 2024; Windows 11

Since the update on EA App on 24-25 January 2024, just less than a week ago. I have issues with both 'The Sims 2' and 'The Sims 3' are unable to be played on my Windows 11 PC via EA App.

The Sims 2 will almost immediately closed down after a few seconds into the intro, while The Sims 3 will start the launcher for login like normal, then no responding after clicked play button with EA App re popped up. I tried uninstalled and reinstalled everything but both The Sims 2 and The Sims 3 still cannot be play. This issues also include other The Sims 3 related program like 'Create a World Tool' to not function as well.

However, my other games on EA App don't have this issue.

    @MisterLaTay  If you fixed the issue before now, you likely ran the Alder Lake patch.  The patch should work indefinitely, but its effects are undone if you uninstall and reinstall the game, or if you repair it (or if the EA App decides to repair it).  I don't know what happened in your particular case, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear that the App ran a repair for no apparent reason.

    The problem is absolutely, definitely, the CPU, or rather something about the CPU that doesn't get along with the game.  Some processors are always affected, and some never are, but in over two years, I have yet to see a case where one particular model is affected only some of the time.  No update or driver has had any effect.

    Yes, the EA App itself runs normally now. It was a bit funky at the first 1-2 days after the update that cause the app to stopped function. But after reinstalled everything, both the Sims games still not working. It leaves other games like SimCity 4 and Mirror's Edge playable without problems at all.

    @MisterLaTay  I was actually asking for the entire dxdiag, saved as a text file.  This screenshot has barely any information, and almost nothing useful, as opposed to the much longer full report.  However, in this particular case, your issue with Sims 3 at least is clear: you have a 12th-gen Intel processor on which Sims 3 doesn't start correctly.  Please see the accepted solution of this thread for workarounds:

    Also, the problem with Alder Lake Intel 12th gen CPU was resolved before about a year ago. I am confused why this happen again now. Should I expect this problem to happen every time the EA App has its major update or something? That would be so annoying.

    @MisterLaTay  The Alder Lake issue was never resolved, at least not for Sims 3.  There was a rumor it had been, but I only saw a couple of reports, and most of the affected users still needed a workaround.  From the number of posts about it, including on new machines and fresh installs of Windows, it's clearly still an issue.  And from the error reports in your dxdiag, it's clearly your issue as well.

    @puzzlezaddict Of course, of course, they gonna leave it to the customers like myself to figure the way out though this forum themselves. But I had fixed it before last year and just played the game the weekend before.

    So I have expect this to randomly happen again and again and keep fixing it myself over and over? Because I start to wonder the actual cause must be something else besides the CPU. Suppose it be some updates along the entire year or recently with the apps, windows, or drivers that cause this.

    @puzzlezaddict Okay, thanks for the advice. I will keep in mind from now on that every time that EA App malfunction on my PC that it needs the repair or when I reinstall everything, the bugs need to be fixed manually over again.
