Sims 3 from Steam & Origin

Hello everyone,

I did see some issues similar to mine posted, however they were from a few years/months ago and didn't fully cover what I needed.

For context, I have Sims 4 in three different apps: Steam (where base game was bought), EA Play, and one kit from Epic Games (weekly free games). I have never had an issue with this at all and all my DLCs were playable in between applications. All my accounts are linked and like I said - never had an issue.

I recently bought the Sims 3 again after giving up on my old Origin account where I had the game years ago, I bought the base game on Steam a few weeks ago but saw yesterday that EA Play was on sale, so I decided to get two DLCs over there. Well, it is not linking at all.

I did manage to make it work by installing everything on EA Play instead of Steam, however, I assume this will damage my "system" of buying the packs wherever they are cheaper/on sale. Is there a concrete way to make the Sims 3 work like the Sims 4 or is the mechanism of it different overall?

Thank you in advance for you help, and I hope you have a lovely day.

  • @ninipdi  Sims 3 is old enough that it doesn't respond to account linking the way newer games do.  But you should be able to register any Sims 3 content you buy in Steam within the EA App.  Steam provides CD Keys that work in the App (sometimes) or on the old Sims 3 site (most of the time).  If neither works, EA customer support should add the content to your EA account once you provide proof of ownership, which in this case would be as simple as a screenshot of your Steam library with the game and CD Keys showing.

However, I would suggest refunding the base game in Steam and going only with the EA App for now.  Steam hasn't had a sale as good as EA's current sale in a very long time and may not for a while longer.  Even if it does, prices will likely only be marginally cheaper than the current EA App prices.

@puzzlezaddict Thank you so much! Sadly the time period for a refund on Steam has expired therefore I cannot request it. I will add the base game to EA and try to stick to buying it strictly from it instead from now on. Once again thank you for your help.
