Sims 3 Launcher will not open

Have you recently put on an extension? if so you need to use that.

@Razviolet  Go to Program Files/Origin Games/The Sims 3/

Right click Sims3Setup and choose to run it as administrator.

Once it has installed for to Origin Games/Sims/Game/Bin

If there is a file named Sims3Launcher.ex_ change the name to Sims3Launcher.exe do the same if there is a file named TS3.ex_.

Now right click on Sims3Launcher and run it is administrator.

Do you mean expansion? I recently downloaded University Life and I have tried opening the launcher through it its .exe file and by simply clicking play in Origin.

My base game is on a disc and in the EA folder. University Life and one other expansion was bought through Origin and is in the Origin game file. Maybe this causes a conflict? Though, if I run TS3W.exe I have access to all of my bought content, disc or digital.

 When I click administrator It says it's going to uninstall sims 3. Is that the intention? I have also tried opening all .exe files as an administrator. I checked my files and they are all .exe, not .ex

@Razviolet you can try a Clean Boot In this case...make sure you have installed Origin and game

-you need to press the key combination: “Windows Key + R”;
In the “Run” window, type the message “msconfig” without quotes;
-you need to left click on the “OK” button;
Select “General” tab, from the toolbar and chose the feature called “ Selective startup”;
-uncheck the box found in the left of the message: “ Load startup items”;
Select “Service” tab, from the toolbar;
-check the box in the left of message: “Hide all Microsoft services”;
Left click on the “Disable all” button, found on the lower-right side of the window;
Left click on the “OK” button;
-a new message box will prompt on your display. Left click on the “Restart” button in order to restart your operating system.

NOTE save any open files and close all programs before restarting your computer.

After restart .right click the game tile in Origin client and select 'Repair Game' and Check for Update

I did all of the above but when I right click the game tile after the restart, there is no Repair Game or a Check for Updates option. There is:

Play

View Game Details

Add to favorites

Customize box art...

Game properties...

Hide

Uninstall

I went into View Game Details and there is no Repair or Update option there either.

@Razviolet and make sure your internet connection is not running through a proxy.Go to Internet Options in Control Panel > check the connections tab and make sure the proxy server is not checked. Check the internet settings again .

go to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games
-rename(change) Sims 3 to Sims 3=( or whatever you want,does not matter)
-start Origin
-now the game appear in My Games ready for Download
-close Origin
-rename(change)Sims 3 =(or what name you put) back to Sims 3
-start Origin
-and now game will be playable

Go in Game Options and unchecked the "online" box. Hit apply changes. Then rechecked the box and hit apply again.

Hang on. I found something strange. I apparently have 2 origin accounts. An older one has all of my sims games (including base) registered except for 2 expansions. When I logged in it shows the base game tile and I am able to click Repair. I'm trying that now.

Edit: It's inching in percentage very slowly. This may take a while.

It took it a long time (my internet speed is horrendous) but it finally finished the repair install. Unfortunately I am still getting the same launcher error. 

I also did your suggestion of changing the folder name then trying to start it up after changing it back. Still not working. 

Just now I changed the file to 'The Sims 3=' again and i'm re-downloading the base game....with a 4-5hr estimated wait time. Origin is currently downloading its new "The Sims 3" folder it into the Origin Games folder. My original copy of Sims 3 is in the Electronic Arts folder. I tried moving my original "The Sims 3" folder from Electronic Arts to the origin one but then origin would no longer recognize it.

Edit: It finished downloading and I think I've broken something. The launcher still won't open and now I can only play the base game or get an error message saying I need to update with the launcher. An error I had previously fixed. :manfrustrated:

What error message are you getting ?
