Sims 3 store content won't download!![Mac]

I just purchased the Sims 3 Starter Pack for my new Macbook Pro through Origin a few days ago. So far I have only downloaded the Sims 3 without the expansion or stuff packs that came with, and now I am trying to download the free Date Night set that is supposed to come with. I have entered my code for the Date Night set and it took me to my purchase history page. Here, I was told to select the item and click download. When I click download, I know from prior experience that it is supposed to pop up in the downloads section on my Sims 3 Launcher. However, it never appeared. About fifteen minutes later it would say the download failed, which didn't make sense because it never even looked like it was downloading in the first place. This has happened to me about three times now.

I thought that maybe this happened because my Sims 3 Launcher was not up to date (currently 1.42.130.01907 and trying to download 9355-1.67.2.024017), but I have tried to update it three times and every time when it is almost done downloading it just disappears. ☹️

I thought that maybe not being able to download store content was a problem specific to the Mac, but I was a frequent sim gamer on my PC and the exact same thing happened to me about a few weeks ago when I was trying to download the free athletic clothing set offered by the sims 3 store. I wasn't as worried about that download at the time because I knew it was just a free thing, but I paid for this Date Night pack and I am VERY upset that it will not work. 

PLEASE HELP!! I was really excited about my new Date Night content and I would really like to begin playing the Sims 3 on my new Mac. Thanks 🙂

    Hi

    Things to try if you are having trouble downloading content from the Sims 3 Store or Exchange:

    Firstly, ensure that you open your game launcher BEFORE trying to download from the Store. It seems to work better that way.

    Make sure your game is patched up to date, including Store patches. If the updates through your launcher don't work then you can use the manual superpatch file. (See instructions at the bottom if you are not sure where to find the superpatch)

    If your launcher is open and you click download on the Store page and it still won't work, try a different browser (Firefox/Chrome/Safari etc). If you have been trying to download from the item's Store page, try from your Purchase History instead, and vice versa. Try different permutations to see whether you can find one that works.

    Be patient - it can take longer than expected for items to download and appear in the launcher, especially the first one you try and large files such as worlds or venues. Don't download/install too much in one go. If you are having problems, just try with one item at a time.

    Finally, the launcher uses a huge amount of free memory. Purging RAM manually after opening the launcher and then from time-to-time while installing content may help you. See this website for details of how to do this: http://bluebellflora.com/resetting-ram-during-gameplay/

    Manual superpatch

    Many simmers find that patching their game via the Game Updates tab of the Launcher does not work properly. It is then better to download and apply the manual superpatch. It is important to download the Mac version rather than the PC version, and to pick the right one for your region. Be aware that if you are using a disc you need to choose the correct 'regional' file but if you are using digital download through Origin then you should use the file designated 'region 7'.
