Sims 3 Time clock Glitch

My sims time clock has stopped working. The time still passes only without the clock and some of sims get stuck and I reset them but that doesn't help. It started off with one sim family. When I moved them or saved an alien to the save bin. In all my saves it stopped working and the sims freeze up or get stuck or move slowly. While that is happening time is passing by even though the clock has stopped or moves in increments. I don't know what to do.
