[ARCHIVED] Ambrosia not bringing ghost sim back to life

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:Sony Playstation 4
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.13
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All expansions, game packs and stuff packs
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Let non-vampiric human Sim freeze to death and be reaped by Grim Reaper, invite ghost Sim into household, get Cooking and Gourmet Cooking skills to level 10, get all the necessary ingredients to make Ambrosia, cook Ambrosia, have ghost Sim put Ambrosia in inventory, have ghost Sim travel to a location where they cannot sit, have ghost Sim eat Ambrosia, watch resurrection animation, witness in dismay as nothing happens and ghost Sim remains a ghost.
What happens when the bug occurs? Ghost Sim eats Ambrosia while standing up (not sitting), ghost Sim goes through the entire resurrection animation without any apparent issue, but nothing happens afterwards and ghost Sim retains her ghostly form.
What do you expect to see? I expect to see my ghost Sim come back to life and to look and act like a human after eating Ambrosia.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? On console - never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

My ghost Sim started as a regular human without any supernatural or alien abilities or characteristics. She froze to death just before she had a chance to marry her fiancé, whose home she shared. Furthermore, the empty plate of Ambrosia can be converted to a pet treat Ambrosia after the ghost Sim's failed resurrection.

Here is a video of the glitch in action, including the empty Ambrosia plate that is converted to pet treat Ambrosia: link

  • Further experimentation resulted in a successful resurrection of my ghost Sim. Here are the steps I took:

    1. I made my ghost Sim sleep at home in her bed until her sleep need was completely full.

    2. I made sure that all of her needs save the hunger need were high (most were full, except for one), then saved my game.

    3. I led her to her home's patio, where there are no chairs, and made her eat the Ambrosia (she got distracted by her fiancé and the two of them chatted away while she slowly ingested her Ambrosia, but she did not sit down to eat although there were chairs and a bed nearby.)

    4. As soon as she finished eating the Ambrosia, she placed the empty plate on the floor and went through the whole resurrection animation.

    5. As soon as the resurrection animation finished, my ghost Sim turned human and immediately began acting normally.

    6. I was still able to select the empty Ambrosia plate and convert it to a pet treat Ambrosia, which made the empty and otherwise unmovable (and un-deletable) empty plate disappear.

I'm not sure whether this is merely a coincidence, but for those experiencing the same glitch when attempting to resurrect a ghost Sim, it might be worth letting the ghost Sim sleep until the need bar is full and making sure all needs except hunger are either full or high (all green)

Here is the video of my successful attempt at resurrecting my ghost Sim: link

I tried the same method two more times after my first successful attempt, with identical results: each time, my ghost Sim was brought back to life and the empty Ambrosia plate could be converted to a pet treat Ambrosia.

It might be interesting to see if other people who have experienced this glitch get similar results using the same method before closing this topic.
