[ARCHIVED] [HSY] Homeless, unplayed teen sims never age up

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:Mac
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.103.250.1220
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Get to Work, Get Together, City living, Cats& Dogs, Seasons, Get Famous, Island Living, Discover University, Eco Lifestyle, Snowy Escape, Cottage Living, High school Years, Growing Together, Horse Ranch Outdoor Retreat. Spa Day, Dine Out, Vampires, Parenthood, Jungle Adventure, Strangerville, Realm of Magic, Star Wars, Dream home Decorate, My Wedding Stories, Werewolves Perfect Patio, Movie Hangout. Romantic Garden, Vintage Glamour, Bowling night, My First Pet, Moschino. Tiny Living, Nifty Knitting, Paranormal Courtyard Oasis, Desert Luxe, Greenhouse
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Homesless, unplayed Teen sims do not age up. Have a teen who is almost at an age to age up and have them homeless and not as a played family. Keep playing the game and you will see that the age up never triggers. This specifically happens with High School years installed.
What happens when the bug occurs? The teen sims who are homeless and not-played will never age up.
What do you expect to see? I would expect that even if a teen sim is homeless, that they would age up on their own.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

Homeless, Non-played sims fail to grow up on their own.

If I move out a family or they move out, kids can age to teens and young adults can age until they die. However at the teen age they become stuck at that age. I often see that they are aged 100/21 days in teen years. This DOES work by uninstalling high school years or adding all homeless households as played which can be time consuming.

    Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Unplayed sims teens do not auto age
    What happens when the bug occurs? Teen do not age up when auto age is turned on
    What do you expect to see? Teens never age in unplayed
    Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.

    I just noticed teen townie sims are not aging up when auto age is turned on. All other ages age up but teens do not. I did have MCCC which is how I noticed the bug, I set the age span and sims were going 60 days being a teen (set to normal life span). I took all mods out and teens still did not age up. I also do not see graduation on the calendar and graduation does not work at all in my game. Saw someone else have this bug and it seems to be related to graduation/high school pack.

    What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? all
    Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Enable auto aging in your game. Send a played teen to High School and observe their classmates. Most will be auto-generated teens who live in one-person households without parents.
    What happens when the bug occurs? These teens never age up, even if you style them in CAS and put them into a family. This has the consequence, that if your played Sims' children will go to High School several "years" later, they still meet the same classmates as their parents.
    What do you expect to see? I expect everyone in the game to age up normally
    Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.

    Please describe the patch or change you made. This happens since the release of HSY.

    This is very annoying if you play over multiple generations.

    Hi @yumcalories

    There is a simple fix to your problem! First just load up the Sims. Then click on options > gameplay. There should be an option saying 'auto-age unplayed sims'. Check that box and your homeless teens should age!

    I have all my sims checked to age up - played and unplayed. And I see that homeless teens(not in a world) do not age up. I noticed it, because I have a lot of generation played household -  26! and I still see teens in my save that was added by me 10 generation back(homeless) - they still remain been teen.

    @yumcaloriesAccording to a bit of digging.. auto age has been a glitch. ☹️ It's associated with High School years. Yikes. I am not even sure if it's happened to me or not at some point, I usually do not stick thru' to many generations.
    According to users who had this, if you move the sim into a home and play.. they will age instantly.. also YIKES.

     
     
     

    *****I found a workaround whilst trying to figure out the problem myself, although it's a bit of a pain.

    It seems to only affect unplayed households, as i set one to played and they aged up instantly. So if you set every single unplayed homeless townie to played (should clarify i mean the heart button), they should age up.*****

    I’ve been having the same problem (except on pc) and I didn’t realise at first because I play on long life span. It’s very frustrating because I have aging turned on for all unplayed households, yet my teens end up at high school with teens their parents went to school with which is immersion breaking.

    your workaround fixed my save promptly at 6:30am game time the day after I added my immortal npc teens to my Played Households 🙂 Now they are aging properly.

    It was getting ridiculous as these people had been teens for 4 generations of my legacy game so far.

    I didn't bother setting every single unplayed household to played-- I only did it for those teens I noticed not aging.
