[ARCHIVED] Reaper's Rewards: Grim Icon Visible But No Quests Available
Hey all!
This thread is for those of you who see the Events tab (seen below) on the Main Menu and have the Grim icon in game, but do not see any quests available AKA "No Plumbob Icons".
...
As the Reaper's Rewards event has now ended, this thread has been archived.
Thank you all so much for sharing the information needed to assist the team. Even though some issues weren't able to be resolved by the conclusion of the Reaper's Rewards event, we were able to use that data provided to improve the experience for future events.
As always, we continue to learn and explore how we can provide the best possible experience for all who play The Sims 4, and will use the information in this thread to make decisions on how we can best move forward for future events.
@lemonollie Hello! I'm sorry you're having trouble with the Reaper event. Are you playing on PC, Mac or console? If you're on PC or Mac, are you playing with any mods?
@jonhelgestensrud Hello! I just saw your note you tagged me in saying that removing mods did not work to fix the issue for you. While some users reported that updating or removing certain mods fixed the issue for them, it's possible that your issue may not be related to mods at all. Some users have said there were problems and never used any mods. I suggest following the steps provided by AHQ Hero crinrict in the below link.
The steps only mention the first week but some users have commented that it worked for them in later weeks. These steps worked for me when I was in the second week and I haven't had any trouble since then (mods included). I have kept a copy of the folder I created through this process, just in case something breaks again and I need to revert back to it. Note that some users have said these steps did not work for them. However, it doesn't hurt to try it. Please be sure to follow each step in order. If you are worried about losing your main The Sims 4 folder (saves, tray, mods, etc.) I recommend first making a copy of it and pasting it somewhere else on your computer (even if it's just on the desktop) or on a flash drive. This way you will have a backup folder that you can restore, in the unlikely event that something goes wrong.
@Anma998 Hello! I'm so sorry but I don't know of a workaround for console that is similar for the one I mentioned for those using PC or Mac. :-( I play mostly on PC but I do have the game on PS4 and PS5. I did some testing with moving game files from my consoles to a flash drive but I was unable to separate the save files from the app data.
I've been searching for other workarounds though. These are just some things I found that you might want to try, if you haven't already.
- Power down your console from the system menu, wait for the light to stop flashing, unplug the power source, then wait about a minute. This should clear cache files that might be hindering your system. Plug the console back in and launch the game.
- Start a new save. Doing this means the personal inventory rewards (like potions and freezer boneys) will not show in other saves and households. However, if you can just get the event to work properly, those items can be found in Build Buy and the Rewards Store.
- If the issue is with getting the Ambrosia Society newsletter: - Replace your mailbox with a base game one (even if you're already using one from base game) - Talk to the mail carrier for a bit
- Move your household to a lot in Willow Creek or play a different household there. Playing a different household also means the personal inventory items will not show in other saves and households.
- Go into Game Options then select Tutorials & Tips. Go to Reset Guidance System and select the Reset button.
I was just thinking about something else to try but it might not be a viable option for everyone and will likely be considered somewhat controversial. So, I'm adding it with a spoiler tag. If you (or anyone else reading this) is interested, click the spoiler below.
My EA account is linked, so when I open the game on console, it shows the Reaper event progress I've made on PC (all progress completed through week 5 as of this writing). If you have access to a desktop or laptop that meets the minimum requirements for the game, perhaps you could try installing the EA app and TS4, then playing the game there to catch up. I believe you just need to use the same email address that you use for your account on console when logging into the EA app. Doing this will also mean that the personal inventory rewards will not be available for other saves and households. As I mentioned before, I have not had a problem since catching up by using the clean folder process for PC, even with mods installed (knock on wood). So I think that if you're able to catch up on PC, then hopefully you can just go back to playing on console afterward with the issue resolved. (fingers crossed)
While I realize that not everyone will be able to do this, I'm hoping it will help those who can. Since the base game is free to play, there's no harm in trying it if you're able to do so.
If I learn of any other possible workarounds, I will come back and report them in this thread.
