[BY DESIGN] Fire DP doesn't show up, grim reaper does nothing

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Occasionally (10% - 49%)
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? City Living, Get To Work, Get Together, Vampires, Dine Out, Parenthood, Outdoor Retreat, Fitness Stuff, Toddler Stuff, Vintage Glamour Stuff, Kids Room Stuff, Holiday Celebration Pack
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Start a fire in an apartment building with fire alarm
What happens when the bug occurs? After the fire starts and the alarm goes off, the fire department does not show up, you die, and the grim reaper just stands there for hours doing nothing while your apartment burns down.
What do you expect to see? The fire dept to show up and my sim not dying, or if he/she dies, that the grim reaper doesn't just stand there and the game finishes so that I can at least keep the apartment the way I decorated it.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

Well, my sim tried to cook and set the stove on fire. I had the alarm installed right above the stove but the fire department never came, so my sim died, and the grim reaper showed up but didn't do anything. Tried speeding up the clock, but nothing short of leaving the game without saving worked. Kind of a bummer, cause I really liked how I decorated the apartment.

This is by design. There's no Fire department in Sims 4. You need to extinguish the fire yourself.

There's also sprinklers you can install.

The Grim Reaper standing around usually points towards a problem where he can't get to the dying Sims. Resetting the Grim Reaper and the dying Sims usually helps with that.

You can try loading a backup by clicking the restore button on your save.

  • Well if that's the case how come I was unable to put it out myself? I hadn't played for a while until yesterday but could've sworn I had somebody show up and put out the fire for me. If I'm not remembering right, and there is no FD, then what the hell?
And there was nothing in the grim reaper's way preventing him from getting to her.
How does one reset them? I hadn't saved. I barely had started playing.

You can use the cheat resetsim grim reaper.

There is a problem where putting out fire is very sensitive to where you click on the fire. What happened when you clicked on the fire ?

There is definitely no FD, maybe you're confusing with Sims 3 ? That had a FD. It's also possible that guest put out the fire and since the apartment has bugs with NPCs randomly waltzing in, that could have been the case ?
