I see this also on PS5. Sims do it with any fireplace that's out. They really do it a LOT with the fire pits. I stopped upgrading my fireplaces because the sims just keep trying to light them each time they are out.
If the fireplace is not upgraded they light it once and then it just stays on.
No option for upgrading firepits, however. They are like Moths to flame!
@PoptartJuniper That’s what I ended up doing too is stop upgrading the fireplace and just replace it with a new one that just stays lit all the time
